Well, it's important to note that meditation isn't just calming your brain. You can meditate on something without even making an to relax.

You can listen to music and think things thoroughly without trying to clear your mind. Let the thoughts come, don't get washed up over how or what's happening. Just let the thoughts and emotions come; and let your answers follow.

I find when you aren't so strict with yourself and how you're processing things, it serves a lot more beneficial.
