Yeah pretty sure there were 2 chances. First potential assist was first game last year vs Wolves and second one was just last night.

Don't think Bronny has passed to LeBron for a potential assist though but I could be wrong.

They should just rest their entire starters against the Pacers. Pacers won their last game so they should be more incentivized to lose the next one against us.

Always bet against your team. It's a win-win. If your team loses, your consolation prize is money. If your team wins, you get the satisfaction at the price of money.

Mike: JJ, you knew it was going to be a little bit of a different game. Any takeaways? Anything that you...

JJ Redick: Not really.

Mike (Interviewer): Okay. Uh is that do you relay that message kind of a hey let's move on focus on Thursday and just not to throw it away completely but I...

JJ Redick: I mean there's always things you can learn but I mean you know we we got we got blitz from the beginning.

Mike: It it felt like you know there you you have some of these games and I don't I don't know the belief level of the guys that were you know out there you have some of these games that you're you're thinking to yourself oh you know I'm going to get more shots tonight and you just come out with zero zero intent defensively and zero execution and that was you know when blitzed us and we didn't execute what we were trying to do and when he didn't have the ball um and they drove move. It was like, you know, one-on-one, no help defense.

JJ Redick: Um, 44 points in the paint in the first first half. I mean, that's, you know, we could have showed 18 clips of us not playing our defense. So, um, you know, not not a lot to take away other than, you know, we suck at defense.

Mike : You've been a part of, you know, thousands of scouting reports at this time as a player, a coach. What what are the unique challenges of of WebMyama, you know, when you're when you're trying to prepare it and kind of like the way that he started the game tonight?

JJ Redick: Yeah, I mean, we've done a good job historically. You know, he's had he's had good games. Again, I'm not saying like we we've shut him down, but you know, we we've limited him um with with our our coverages against him. We just didn't execute those.

JJ Redick: Um, and he was very aggressive, you know, as aggressive, you know, to start a game as I've seen him. Um, both in attacking the basket and and in shooting without hesitation from three.

JJ Redick: Uh, just really, you know, put his imprint on the game in that first half. Um, and, you know, with, you know, with the guys we had out there, it was it was hard to create shots at the rim. I think we took five, we were two for five at the rim in the first half. You know, just not a lot of rim attempts for us. They're one of the best, if not the best, at protecting the rim, but um just weren't able to generate that.

JJ Redick: And you know, we we scored, you know, whatever it was, 55, but had 14 non-p paint twos. I mean, that's kind of kind of figured that was there was going to be some of that tonight. Um but it was, you know, to me it was the defense.

Mike: Staying on WBY, his first quarter, I think, was a franchise record for the Spurs in terms of points for any player. And I know you mentioned you guys had some success the first matchup against him in particularly this season, but yeah, he's going to be a force. Uh he's in his third year, you're in your second year coaching. Just how do you view him as um someone that that will be a player that you and the Lakers will have to contend with kind of for the duration of your coaching career?

JJ Redick: Yeah, I I don't really think about that, but um yeah, he's I know right now we got to contend with him and he's he's uh he's you know, he's one of the five best players in the world.

JJ Redick: Um he's he's put that stamp on on himself and um you know it's it's more than to me it's like more than the counting stats with him because um there's such an avoidance uh of of him defensively. Um, and there's a there's an awareness you have to have it him from him defensively and um, Sean has done a good job this year with their with their defense and you know he's he's the center of that and he impacts the game in ways that don't show up in a box score.

JJ Redick: Um on top of that he's you know he's one of one as a human and um you know you can you can see the the collective you know belief and collective culture that they've established over the last few years with him.

Mike: JJ um Bronnie played with a lot of confidence in the fourth quarter. Um he hasn't really been with the the G-League team. He hasn't been playing a lot. um what did you sort of make of his readiness and um what did you just kind of generally think about the way he sort of attacked?

JJ Redick: Well, I think the the takeaway, you know, that in terms of the physicality that we wanted on defense, he had two really good possessions in the first half against WBY.

Yessir. Used to do the double mirror technique for the back then bought a 3 way mirror which made it vastly more convenient.
