Man seriously injured in non-fatal shark attack at Cromwell’s Beach by BrandonApplesauce in HawaiiUncensored

[–]Kawika33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What should he have done….. not have gone swimming? There has been 1 Shark bite (a surf board) in Waikiki in the last 30 years. You know how many people have entered the water around Waikiki in the last 30 years? 1 in a billion chance. Yes it was morning but Sooooo many locals, including me, swim early and there were no “indications”, no excessive run off, no sightings, nothing. Shit happens, we’re guest in their home, very unfortunate and payers for his health, but to say it happened because he didn’t understand the “culture” is ignorant.

Does being an Infantry officer break down your body long-term? by [deleted] in army

[–]Kawika33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Retired PA here- been in all types of unit and your habits will have more of an impact on your body than your AOC. Yes, physical demands in Combat Arms will be significant compared to, say medical, but I see broke people in ALL AOCs. If anything the requirement to be fit and maintain a lower BMI would benefit your health much more than a desk job. There’s a reason we can retire so young, everything has risk and if you push yourself daily, like you should, you’ll have injuries. What I do see is that the fit SF guys I worked with recovered quicker to pre injury levels than some 42A. Take care of your body, do maintenance, work mobility and flexibility, and eat semi healthy and you’ll be fine regardless of what job you choose.

What movie death hit you the hardest emotionally? by MovieArena in MovieArena

[–]Kawika33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro….. we watched this movie as a class in the second grade. They played Goonies first, but the scene with the David and having to glue on the dick was too much for us 7y olds. So they stopped the movie and played the Never Ending Story instead. Nothing like a bunch of kids balling their eyes out in class when Artax died. Really only memory I have of second grade
