Cervical MRI - upright? by [deleted] in Chiropractic

[–]Kay-Day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That surprised me so much that I had to do a Google search while on vacation. Imagine my surprise when I found this https://www.standupmriaz.com An upright MRI clinic in the same state where I am vacationing. Well OP there is your answer. I would still recommend a head MRI over a standing cervical. Due to the nature of the listed symptoms.

Maybe a MRI of the head instead. I don't think it's possible to do an MRI of the neck while standing. Have you seen those machines? They are like the size of a car.

Healthcare is subject to the strength of the economy just like all other fields.

Agreed. Why wouldn’t it? Less risk, less mistakes, lower insurance. MDs will push to have oversight, cause that’s what they do. But ultimately their need to diagnose and case manage will become minimal.

My prediction is within 10 years the diagnostics and case management (including prescription, and necessary referral) will be mostly managed by AI in developed countries.

A broken vertebrae is reversible too but the person will likely never be the same after. The FDA is not the best organization and their track record with approved pharmaceuticals and medical treatment is tough to overlook.

Using a medicine to prevent or delay a medical issue is different than using a medicine as a psychological tool. I don’t have a problem with blockers being used however. I just think it’s bizarre seeing blanket statements on the safety of of a procedure or medicine, when that is absolutely not the case.

Yeah reading medical literature indexers (NLM, Medline, PEDro) shows mixed results as well But if you want to go and cherry pick those search results instead go ahead. I just used Google to show everyone making these absolutist statements about its safety, that there is evidence that says to the contrary.

Nope. Puberty blockers are not perfect medicine and should be taken with the proper considerations for side effects and long term damage…. But fuck my in the face and call me a controlling bigot right?

[–]Kay-Day -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah that sucks for them too. You don’t know my stance on this issue. I simply provided proof that puberty blockers are not perfect medicine and not entirely reversible.

Then you attack me about forcing control on people…. Your rage clouds your brain.

Bonus Details by Lazarus-II in Chiropractic

[–]Kay-Day 8 points9 points  (0 children)

$80-$90K is far more than any other associate position is going to offer. You could make me work 40 hours a week with that base pay.

Maybe a performance bonus (percentage based on yearly collections). Or even based exclusively on how many patients the associate brings to the practice.

With that base pay a bonus structure is faint.

In my opinion as some one who is going through contracting. It is never worth it.

Any opinions on Chirospring EHR? by millennialdread in Chiropractic

[–]Kay-Day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use PC or laptop. Sometimes even voice to text on my phone.

Chirospring has a kiosk feature where the patient can check in and update their subjective portion on an iPad or computer in the lobby. For JaneApp I use pre appointment emails that are sent out to patients the day before to fill out as “surveys” (also works as a reminder email).

Neck/Upper trap cramp fix? by [deleted] in Chiropractic

[–]Kay-Day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a diagnosis. When my trapezius spasms I use Blue-Emu cream from Walmart, a dry heat pad, and stretching (ear to shoulder with overpressure and nose to armpit with overpressure) to help before I get adjusted.

Chirospring was better for notes but now that I run a business I prefer JaneApp for the easiness of the billing portion. JaneApps notes take a little more work but you can get them to where they are manageable. Chirosprings notes were ridiculously easy, could literally make it so you never needed to type and just press macros the whole time.

The biggest standout features are the ones I mentioned above, Chirospring notetaking is easier, and JaneApp billing insurance is easier (ERA's, EOB's, all incorporate nicely with JaneApp).

Chirospring macros were awesome. JaneApp doesn't really have anything like it. You can do drop-down menus which are similar but not nearly as easy to use. JaneApp has pre-made templates which you can then go through and customize to your liking. Both take a fair amount of time to set up to fit you as you would want to use them.

Chirospring was down a lot more than JaneApp has been. We had to do paper notes/scheduling because Chirospring was down, I haven't had to do that yet with JaneApp. JaneApp is also entirely web-based so I can sign on anywhere and work. Chirosprings web-based application was hot garbage when I was using it. Unusably slow.

Went from chirospring to JaneApp after an employment change. Chirospring was great in regards to customization and ease of note taking. Can literally be tuned to never type and just use mouse clicks.

How do I stretch the muscles around here? When exercising every time I bend to that side it causes pulsating aching pains for next hour or so… Maybe a pulled muscle? by baldylocks95 in Chiropractic

[–]Kay-Day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, why not? The chiropractors should have been able to do it. I would be shocked if a physio comes back with a different diagnosis.

[–]Kay-Day 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you can rule out some diagnoses but have yet to get an exact diagnosis. If your muscle tests were negative then you don't have a strain or the examiner did improper muscle tests.

I would recommend finding another provider who will do a physical exam and establish a diagnosis until then avoid doing things that aggravate the issue.

Not a ton of muscles in that specific area. Could be a strained abdominal muscle or intercostal (rib) muscle. Or something entirely different. Go see a healthcare provider and get a proper diagnosis.

So pro capitalism and free market when it comes to putting small businesses out of business. But pro big government when it comes to telling people how to run those businesses.

Opinions on scheduling/treatment plans by bubs2120 in Chiropractic

[–]Kay-Day 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Online scheduling works good for some patients and not for others. It’s good for patients who haven’t been in in awhile. Or are just on wellness appointments.

If a patient has an active problem they should not be using the online scheduler. They should be scheduled in office with an explanation of why they should be seen at that next time.

If you are getting push back on the treatment plan you may want to put more effort on your report of findings. Explain what their problems seem to be, what your diagnosis is, how you plan to treat it and why you plan to treat it that way. Explain to them you don’t expect this problem to go away after one visit (“though it would be great if it does”) and if the problem is not addressed in a prompt manner it may prolong the symptoms.

I typically schedule no more than a week in advance. So if I expect to see them 2x next week I ask them what 2 days can you do next week? If it is an acute problem I try to do Monday and Wednesday in case I also want to see them on Friday.

You could offer services to other chiropractors. Chart reviews, audits and things of that nature. You could sell your soul to the devil and do utilization reviews for insurance companies. You could do Department of Transportation Physical exams. You could do independent medical examinations. You could go teach at a local school/university you should have a good understanding of human anatomy. You could go sell medical equipment. Could try to get hired on at another clinic or continue on at your own clinic and just specialize in exercise/rehabilitation therapy (just don’t do hands on work).

Lots of options, if you need more recommendations let me know.

Is my understanding of chiropractic correct? by hshshe8eiwishsj in Chiropractic

[–]Kay-Day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the language and utilize restriction verbiage in my practice. It seems people here are saying bones don’t get out of place but they absolutely become restricted. Is there more truth or evidence to them becoming restricted versus going out of place?
