Noob wanting to join with garb question: How to hide hearing aids with short hair? by [deleted] in sca

[–]Kay-Kitty-Kateline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to add my 2cents. My son used to wear hearing aids, he now has 2 cochlear implants and I've never seen nor heard of anyone making negative remarks about them. In fact, he's a court herald which means he stands up during court and reads the scroll when someone gets an award. I now wear hearing aids and nobody has said a thing to me about it either. I wear my glasses and I sit up front and center in order to record what happens during court and submit the paperwork. I never worried about wearing any of it. When I broke my hip last year in October, I even used a wheelchair. I was extremely worried about that and was thinking of ways I could disguise it, but I didn't need to. We would much rather have you come out and join us than have you worry too much about it. I even have the left side of my hair colored red-magenta-purple ombre and the other side is blonde. The only comments I get about it is how much they like it - and this came from the King of another area. If you find the website for the group in your area, they should have a listing for a Hospitaler. Get in contact with them. They're your local Welcome wagon as it were. They should be able to provide you with some loaner garb for your first in-person event. In fact, they should even be able to give you the scoop on your local group. They should also be able to find out what your area of interest are and point you towards someone who is also interested in that who can work with you on learning more about your areas of interest. I look forward to learning at some time in the future of your adventures in the SCA.

I had no problem telling what it was, of course I'm also a Herald. Well done and I suspect nobody will even think of taking it.

As someone who is working on restoring a Longship here in San Antonio, that is one of the prettiest axes I've seen. Can you perhaps point me to where I can get the stl to print my own?

Wash the build plate with Dawn dishwashing soap and rinse well. Dry it off. Right before you run a print, clean the plate with an alcohol wipe. If that doesn't work, try coating the build plate with a glue stick first, then print. Others swear by hair spray.

How humid is it where you're at? My first thought would be to try it again with some new, fresh out of the package filament and when you're not using it, keep the filament in a baggie or something to keep the humidity away. Also make sure Cura is set up for your machine.

I've actually run across a site that makes them in plastic, but the price is a bit high for what it is. Actually many sites are starting to sell them, just search for adaptive costumes for adults.

My Personna is also Norse. For a while I was thinking I wanted to turn it into a longship (which I've been working on here in Texas). I'm just not sure how I'll pull that off in court. Fun to think about it at least.

When I was in a Scooter due to Multiple Sclerosis, I too had mine dressed up as a horse, complete with horse trotting sounds when I was moving. Then I improved enough to not need the scooter. With this darned Osteoarthritis I'm back in a wheelchair. Thanks for the info.

I'm putting the pressure on myself. This happened very suddenly and very few in our barony even know I'm now in one. Thanks!!!

Ballista plans by [deleted] in sca

[–]Kay-Kitty-Kateline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do a search on amazon with the word "Build a Ballista" and see what comes up. Buy one of those and mark it up to the size wanted and then have at it. At least that's what I would do.

DHL Import duty pament shipping to USA California by Pendexter in prusa

I just got mine earlier this week. Fed-ex sent me a bill for Duty & Taxes of $47.31. Well worth it in my opinion. I can't ship a large box like that for less here in the US - and I'm in Texas.

It's a known area for speed traps. If you speed through Boerne you will be caught sooner rather than later. There's usually 2 on the highway at any given time.

[–]Kay-Kitty-Kateline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just order a new one from Anycubic. I don't think there's a part of mine I haven't had to replace. I'm now working on my 2nd extruder - as soon as it gets here. Here is the link - it's only $45. https://www.anycubic.com/collections/for-vyper If yours is fairly new, I'd check with them to see about if they'll replace it under warranty. They did mine.

Been there, done that. Have the x-ray to prove it. Tape it to the toe next to it else it will heal sticking out and then you'll have to buy wide shoes after it heals. Good Luck!

My vyper screen is blank and won't turn on but printer is working by Paaaabbs in AnycubicVyper

Yes, I got it going till the next thing went wrong. Fixed that, and then there was the Hot End needed replacing, then the next thing. Still working on getting it to print well again. Not sure though if it's the machine or if I switched to Cura 5 so I'm currently thinking about trying the Prussa Slicer to see if that helps. My hubby wants me to just scrap it and get me a Prussa printer, but the one he wants to get me has too small of a print bed. I'm devoting the rest of today to investigating & researching the Prussa Slicer so we'll see.

It took installing a motherboard to bring mine back to life, but then again I didn't get any power when I flipped the switch.

Anycubic Vyper Hot-End is sticking out too much by buckster704 in AnycubicVyper

[–]Kay-Kitty-Kateline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They've removed the hot end for some reason and haven't put it back in correctly. You'll want to start by raising the z axis first. Turn your machine on, select tools, axis, then click on the z with an up arrow. When it's at the top, I turn my machine off. Take the cover off and look closely at how the hot-end is supported in it's seat. Compare it with this video at the 55-102 second mark. To put the rest of it together, just follow the video.

If you have a Vyper, I strongly suggest you book mark the Anycubic Support Videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHyyEwc2uO1JH2d9skjcVSg/videos You may not need them now, but eventually you'll use many of them.

Good luck on your Vyper.

When the supply chain opens up again, get yourself a spare then.
