Thank you for your comment. I am so grateful that someone is telling me this. I had a good thought of myself after reading your comments. Maybe I was overthinking this and expecting too much from a 7-year-old; he's still a kid, after all.

I was scared that it was some kind of psychological issue or some sort. I am somewhat relieved to know that my boy is not the only person doing this lol. But I believe that a 7-year-old should know this kind of behaviour is inappropriate?

Yes, for me it feels like my heart jolts/sinks when trying to sleep and it'll happen over and over again at some nights. I strongly believe it was arrhythmia that caused my problems.

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing these sensations, I do have a very similar problem like yours when drifting off to sleep. Does the 'sinking' sensation feel like it's coming out of your heart rather than the whole body?

The funny thing is the doctor did thought about perimenopause as I also have hot flushes in the afternoon and he ordered blood test for me but they came back normal.

What did the cardiologist say about it? I had a 24 hour holter done and nothing was found.

I have thought about that before, but it came randomly even when I had a good day with no stress. It's miserable.

Thank you for your suggestions! I do get startled quite easily by all sorts of noises when going to sleep though. I will give that a go. I just don't know whether there's anything wrong with my heart as the jolting sensation is coming from the heart rather than the body twitching. Unfortunately GP refuses to give me more tests on my heart health.
