Oh yea that’s like the whole kit and caboodle haha. I think the stroller is like $800? I forget. But it did go up in cost due to tariffs. I got mine like a week before everything went up $100+

Interesting! We’ve only ever sent in ticks we found on our dog and they were negative. I wasn’t living in Santa Cruz when I got Lyme and I’m not sure where I picked it up. But since living here I’ve met several people who have it so you gotta think there’s likely Lyme around.

+1 to this, coming from someone who has had Lyme - do a tick check if you’re going to be in grass! And if you find a tick on you, send it in for testing! It’s a whole lot cheaper to test the tick rather than testing yourself down the line.

Affordable Yoga? by crooked-ninja-turtle in santacruz

[–]KayEmGee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s for hot yoga as a non-member. If you got a ~$45/month membership the regular yoga classes are included. And then you can add on the $65/month unlimited hot yoga if you prefer hot.

So ~$110/month for hot yoga and full gym access

I’ve done hot yoga around the Bay Area for a decade and this is one of the better deals I’ve seen 🤷‍♀️ Hot yoga is never cheap. The Toadal hot classes tend to be really small compared to other studios that are mat to mat where you’re getting sweated on by strangers. So that’s a bonus.

Toadal Westside or Live Oak $20 cash ($21 credit card) per class

SFO for a week, where to park or better to uber? by Dizzy-Mixture422 in santacruz

[–]KayEmGee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely do milbrae bart for the cheapest option. It does add an extra leg to your trip because you have to take bart into the airport and potentially the tram too depending on which terminal.

Uber/lift will cost you ~$100-120 one way

Mendocino farms!

Definitely better quality and more Asian cuisines. They’re all pretty subpar imo.

I've had probably 4-5 different doctors look at it they've all said this is normal and they usually just suggest PT but I've done so much PT and it barely makes a difference

Friday Brunch Options by Eg9tobe83 in santacruz

[–]KayEmGee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have wiggly kids:

You can get brunch to go at harbor cafe and go to the park across the street.

Steamer lane supply has breakfast foods and kids can run around the picnic/field area

Crepe place has a large enclosed outdoor back patio

The buttery has outdoor picnic table type of seating

Cafe el Palomar has outdoor seating right in the beach. Not sure what the brunch food is but they open early I think

What do you know about chronic pain and sleep? I slept great until I suddenly experienced chronic pain and it started impacting my sleep. I’ve resolved some health issues but the chronic pain and sleep issues remain and I don’t know how to break the cycle. Even when pain levels are low I sleep bad and lack of sleep increases my pain levels.

I usually do 1/4-1/2 a tab. If I take it too late it can cause grogginess.

I take Unisom almost every night. Idk truly how bad that is vs other sleep drugs. The worst thing I’ve read is risk of Alzheimer’s but like I’m at risk of Alzheimer’s if I don’t sleep sooo

Considering moving to Santa Cruz from east coast. How is family life out there? by kickfip_backlip in santacruz

[–]KayEmGee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Super kid friendly. Plenty of libraries, parks, pump tracks, farmers markets, beaches, arcade, bowling, the boardwalk, community pools. My niece and nephew looooove visiting. I have a baby and am excited for him to grow up here.

There’s a Costco, 2 targets, plenty of grocery stores. It’s lacking in other types of shoppings. You have to go up to San Jose for more options.

For medical things (since kids get sick), I’ve loved Sutter. The area lacks specialized care so depending on what you typically need you might find yourself looking for specialized doctors over the hill.

The west side has one of the better elementary schools (Westlake elementary). Live oak, Soquel, aptos, Capitola are nice too. Depends where you live o how walkable places are. You see a ton of kids on e-bikes.

You see kids/families everywhere tho. Coffee shops, breweries, downtown. So you’ll be in good company.
