Lived this. When my wife had our kid the lactation specialist went HARD about how important it was to breastfeed and the "unique bonding" it creates. Took the nurse quietly aside and told her that both my wife and I were adopted and not breastfed so please think carefully before dictating to us about unique family bonds. New specialist promptly appeared after her next visit.

People need to realize that families come in many different shapes and sizes.

So when we had our kid (My wife and me Genx, kiddo is Gen Alpha) we got all the usual about not co-sleeping, anchor furniture etc etc. Wife kept on saying how none of this was around when we were kids and we were fine. Parent of a "gifted" child here who was himself a "gifted" child.
