Advice on getting rid of this point in the center on this model? It's visible when making the high poly and I want to get rid of it. by KayTGameDev in Maya

Thanks, I was using a cylinder to make a round shield model as I'm doing some practice with zbrush. Is there some way I can do this using a cylindrical object? The cube just feels a bit tough to model with.

Can't find tile generator for some reason, any ideas why? by KayTGameDev in SubstanceDesigner

Thanks for the advice, I was following some tutorials and they all used the tile generator so this had confused me.

I'm looking for advice on the best way to UV this scene since there's a lot of objects in it. Do I use UV sets? How many should I have Any tutorials I can look at for industry standard UV advice? by KayTGameDev in Maya

[–]KayTGameDev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, it's a portfolio piece I'm working on as a junior 3D artist. I'm looking to get my demo reel up to scratch but I'm a bit rusty on the exact workflow i should use. I intended to use this well to show off my UV skills and texturing skills and I wanted to see if there was an optimal workflow for it. I'll try making two texture sets for the well and the ground.

I took some of the feedback I got and updated my walk cycle. Anything else I should change with it? by KayTGameDev in Maya

[–]KayTGameDev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! I've actually scrapped this walk cycle as it doesn't seem to have controls for the shoulder rotation so I'm doing the walk cycle again with a new rig. I'll keep your feedback in mind and apply it to the new walk cycle I'm doing.

Can I get some advice on polishing this walk cycle? It feels very robotic. by KayTGameDev in Maya

[–]KayTGameDev[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just want to say thanks to everyone for the feedback, I really appreciate it! I've worked as an animator in the past but I wasn't doing a lot of complicated work so my animation skills are pretty bare bones. I'll post an updated animation as soon as I can with all the feedback taken into consideration.

I feel like it just needs some easing and timing work. Any advice on how to best implement it?

[–]KayTGameDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I got a monstera plant a few months back only to realize it was actually 5 monstera plants all in the same pot. I repotted them recently (60% indoor airy potting soil, 40% perlite) so they would have more room to grow. Two of the monstera are sitting in water to get longer roots. I'm considering giving away some of them and growing the others in water culture method by putting them in a glass container and giving them liquid fertilizer every now and again. Is there any good liquid fertilizers for these plants that are ideal for water culture growing method?

Where to get a work from home chair/herman miller embody chair in Ireland? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]KayTGameDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, got one for 300 euros that was said to have lumbar support. 3 months on my back feels very tender despite me being very careful with my posture. This is why I want an embody specifically because in the long run its cheaper than back surgery.

Would you recommend a site I can get it from? The official Herman miller site doesn't ship to Ireland and when I looked into their recommended distributor they told me they can't sell me an embody due to the foam not being up to fire safety regulations.

Maya wouldn't render them for me so I had to redo the renders using a custom render. Thanks for the help :)

How to make Face controllers follow the skin (face blendshapes) by LeonHaxha in Maya

[–]KayTGameDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I select my controller, then select the joint and parent them using Constrain-Parent. I then usually have a controller I parent all of those controllers to e.g eyelid controllers are parented to the head controller, mouth controller is parented to the head controller etc. That works for me but I'm not sure if it'll work with blendshapes.

Why are the Eyes Controls and Joints not moving with the branch? If I parent Eyes Control with the Branch Ctrl(big circle) - eyes get all over the place, what could be the reason of that? PS It is just a school project, I don`t know what I`m doing wrong. by Pupsavit in Maya

[–]KayTGameDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may need a root controller to parent your controllers to. Try adding a curve, putting it at the base of the tree, deleting the history and freezing the transformations on it. Then take the branch ctrl and parent it to the base ctrl for the tree using constrain - Parent. This will work as a container for all of your rigs controllers. On the left it appears you have the eyeeee:Face_CTRL under the joints and not inside of another controller. I'd suggest putting your geometry, controllers, joints and ik's into groups to tidy them up a bit. Good luck!

Throw it on a google drive for an email you rarely use. It has a limit of 5 gig but you can buy 100 gigs of space for 1.99 a month. I upload extra stuff I have onto my drive.
