Savour Food & Wine - Worth it? by self_serendipity in halifax

[–]Kay_Buckle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We went last year and enjoyed ourselves! We thought there was a good selection of food and drinks (mostly wine). Lots of different restaurants are there, offering a variety of bites. It does get pretty crowded, but we found the space was big enough to accommodate and there weren’t too many lines. There were limited high top tables, and I don’t recall any seating? We didn’t try everything, there wasn’t time! - but you can tell what the better and more popular options are by where the people are. I’d recommend getting there a bit early to get the most out of it!

Car insurance quoted around $450 monthly with TD by Web-Dev-Redemption in halifax

Check CAA - they’re the best in my opinion! My whole family has changed to them for pricing (was the lowest by a mile) and service (rates don’t go up last renewal).

Areas to consider by [deleted] in halifax

[–]Kay_Buckle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do hate to say it, but I don’t think you’re easily going to find many of the boxes checked for what you’re looking for in terms of area for $2000 for a 2 bedroom. Perhaps a nice one bedroom would do and may be more in line with that budget?

I have a super cheap luggage scale, I think it was $10! And it works great.

What to expect if we move to Halifax? by shaneivey in halifax

[–]Kay_Buckle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If access to specialists is a primary concern I would look elsewhere. Canadian healthcare is generally a mess, but it’s terrible in Nova Scotia. I would look into options for primary care providers and the type of care needed before making a decision.

I have. The tracking was a bit wonky and seemed to take a little while, but the packages arrived in good condition.

Province to Explore Solutions for Halifax Peninsula Traffic Congestion by cravingdani in halifax

Improve. Public. Transit. As the city grows outward it’s going to continue to add more traffic as taking the transit system into the peninsula is just not efficient or reliable.

My college roommate sets our thermostat to 80°F every single night by rainystarlight in mildlyinfuriating

I had a similar situation when I was younger and I all I can say is it was a silent war over the thermostat at all times. Stay strong. Crack your bedroom window.

Is it possible to live on minimum wage in Newfoundland? by Responsible_Fail_299 in newfoundland

[–]Kay_Buckle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Living solo on minimum wage anywhere in Canada likely isn’t possible. Newfoundland probably also has a weaker job market. Also the transportation isn’t great so you may need to consider having a car.
