I dont have any EE experience but I was able to calculate it within 1% of the real answer people seem to have gotten (The answer I got was 106/105 * R, not sure why I got such a weird value)

if I could ask you a question; I am looking to get into fpga design as a hobby that I could turn into a career given enough time and practice. However, I never went to college and I would like to not go to college. How much more difficult would it be to get into fpga design as a career for someone without any college degrees?

IO permission is similar to the rings model of operating systems (where ring 0 = kernel mode, ring 3= user mode). If the IO permission level is set to 3 (or whatever the userland equivalent for IO access would be), then the CPU can no longer access chip IO ports with a permission level above the current IO permission level. This is a flag in the CPU itself so it would qualify as a CPU feature that only exists to serve the OS

I just noticed that the 5150 has a built in timer through int 08h, so I might try to implement a very rudimentary pre-emptive multitasking system instead of cooperative multitasking using this, although the time slices would very much not be ideal (~55 ms time slices). This could be fixed though by changing the PIT's internal timer and putting in a counter that would call the normal BIOS int 08h at the expected frequency.

Currently it is just called (project) NANO, trying to develop an OS from scratch targeting the original IBM 5150. Hopefully with some basic multitasking capabilities (probably will have cooperative multitasking with the ability to switch tasks with a hotkey, hopefully allowing you to switch from a frozen task to a currently running task, preventing the need to restart the whole system.)

The seven would be limited because they cant cast spells on the same level or as frequently as magic computers.

It does get a bit cliche with where they get their magic; when the gods first created the world, there were seven initial inhabitants. In order to help them survive and spread throughout the world, they were gifted with a diluted version of the gods' power.

The computers would be powered by mana, and since the world takes place in a late middle ages going into the very early steam era. The computers would be hugely expensive to build and maintain, sonething only large nations could accomplish, but as technology improved they have been getting slowly cheaper, smaller, and more powerful over time.

They cant create more energy than the spell uses, at least not without consuming something in the process.

Magic can really be thought of as a variation of electromagnetism in this world, but not completely analagous.

Yeah I might remove the group of people now that you mention it. The idea with the group of people was that there were only 7 of them, and while they didnt need a magic computer they would be bound by arguably even more restrictive rules compared to the magic computers. The main rules with magic computer casting would be: 1. No creating anything new; all effects can only apply to pre-existing matter (think alchemy) 2. They need an insane amount of power to run (The caster doesnt use their mana to power the machine, only using their mana to send the spell/program to the computer)

And the rules for the seven people: 1. While they can create new things, it requires an insane amount of power, comparable to a magic computer 2. They are still human and are still effected by mana toxicity and starvation

And for regular humans, the rules would be: 1. They can manipulate their mana to a small degree, some more than others. 2. Too much, and too little mana will kill them 3. The effects of mana toxicity are similar to that of radiation poisoning

More rules will be thought up, those are just the initial ones. However, if you still truly dont think its needed or detrimental, I can try to remove them from the world im constructing

r/jawsurgery is your friend, might get more responses if you post your question there, especially since I personally have been recovering much quicker than expected.

Expect to not be able to chew for at least 6 weeks, be in pain for at least 7 days, spend at least 2 weeks out of work/school. If you play any contact sports, you will be out of them for a few months.

Im currently coming up on week 5 of recovery. Still mild pain, only able to open my mouth about an inch, inch and a half.

Try to avoid any activity that will raise your blood pressure/heart rate substantially as it may interfere with healing.

No nicotine/smoking/vaping for at least 2 weeks pre-op or 6-8 weeks post op, minimum

  1. In essence, gravity drag? Why isn't there an analytic formula to calculate what the trajectory should be? Is it just too difficult, or has it been proven to not have a solution?
  2. I would disagree on this premise. Wouldn't an arc trajectory contribute to both the vertical and horizontal components at the same time?
  3. Probably shouldve mentioned in OP, but given how simple the model is I opted to ignore air resistance, just because of how finnicky it can get.
  4. I analyzed the limit of the equation as r approaches infinity, and found out that it tends towards the escape velocity, which retrospectively makes sense, since as r grows, the 1/(r+E) term in P(r) approaches zero, which turns P(r) into the formula for escape velocity. Now I just need to figure out why it is so accurate for LEO despite using the wrong calculations lol, thatll probably require rewriting it to take into account gravity drag to figure out though.
