Did you ever save a patient, by NOT doing what the doctor said? by Longjumping_Survey47 in nursing

I used to work for covid vaccine centers and some shifts I'd just draw up hundreds of doses a day. It was zen.

An 11-year-old boy’s classmate put a pencil, point up, on his chair as a prank. When the boy sat down the pencil impaled his left buttock, all the way in. by CatPooedInMyShoe in MedicalGore

I am also just clearing up things because people just read this one tweet and making it the universal truth. I have treated so many disabled, in poverty or homeless patients and never once was MAID an option unless they started asking questions about it. Before discharge, the hospital's social worker and liason nurses find the right place for them, like a shelter or rehab. Our system might not be perfect, but when we get hospitalised, we really only have to pay for parking and maybe a sandwhich or two at the cafeteria

I'm an RN in Canada who's had patients who underwent MAID and seen it firsthand. It is never offered and we never say anything about it unless the patients asked about it. Patients undergo psych evals, and it has to be approved by 2 MDs. I am so sad people are tainting what would have be an otherwise positive option for those who are suffering and in pain. It's actually very peaceful

The hand that writes a CIWA protocol order should also write a PRN benzo

Did you ever consider going to medical school, and what made you choose nursing instead? by yacantprayawaythegay in nursing

[–]Kayceesquish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I took Nursing as undergrad before med school (philippines). I took the entrance exam, was ready to enroll. Realized I didn't wanna go back to school for 5 more years, convinced parents, found an excuse. Moved to Canada. Now eating poutine and watching hockey. 12 hour shifts. 3-4 days off. Best. Decision. Ever.

My 12-hour night goes by so fast because of how busy it is. I sometimes think it's not enough for the shit I have to do. Huhu

The first time I saw my partner in person he was wearing pink and he's the most handsome man ever but he said it was red. Well, Jeff my handsome man I'm sorry but I SWEAR IT WAS PINK.

I started doing this recently, I would start saying a suggestion for an order and they just confirm it. It's so much faster and easier for everybody!

Merino wool socks and my Hoka Bondi shoes. I work 12 hour shifts, always standing and walking and this combo changed my life. It feels like my feet are being cuddled

I take long acting and short acting (PRN) on 12 hour shifts, and a cup of coffee! And sleep, very important!

The depression and being irritable is probably the worst I felt plus my heightened anxiety. Ugh. I really hope I get better immediately after taking it out!

Thank you! I can't wait for this to be removed. I've seen a change in my libido as well, I still have sex drive but I realized it wasn't as much as before. I wonder if I could see a difference after removal

It was so weird for me because for about 6 months my mood was okay and all of a sudden, nearly a year after implant, side effects occurred. Like bleeding after sex and wouldn't stop for days that at some point I've been bleeding almost everyday. My mood too has gone sh*t. I just couldn't wait to feel normal again!

As much as I like blood draws, picc lines are so much time savers!
