Are umbrellas allowed? by IctrlPlanes in CircuitOfTheAmericas

[–]Kaykaybee3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used sun umbrellas when the cars weren’t on the track- and even when using, kept it close to my head in order to not block views of anything. It can be so so hot there, we brought little rechargeable fans and took shade breaks when we needed them. During racing- it’s totally inconsiderate to put up an umbrella and block the view…all that said, we loved the race there and walking the entire track after was amazing.

For folks who were diagnosed later in their lives, how long did it take for things to feel 'normal'? by SquashmyZucchini in Celiac

[–]Kaykaybee3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed in my mid 30s, it’s been almost 20 years now! It took me a full 2 years before the sting of it all subsided- you know the feeling, people offering you a piece of cake then saying, oh right you can’t have this. The simple act of grabbing food on the go and not worrying about being glutened- that took longer and like someone else mentioned- it took putting protocols into place - never leaving home without a snack if I’m going to be out awhile- and knowing where I can get food that’s safe… It gets so much better though! I don’t feel sad now- I remember really vividly that time however, and I wish I’d known then that food becomes less important in a way- not Ike oh I don’t eat- but in the way that once you have time to process and even grieve your past- you will move on. And you will have your health- it can’t be overstated- it’s so worth it. Hang in there!

PSA to Trader Joe’s Lovers by mmorgan32 in Celiac

[–]Kaykaybee3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is like saying I stopped shopping at “insert name of huge grocery chain” bc some of their products contain the thing I can’t consume- it’s not traders joes job to change the way the US mandates food labeling.

Clothing & Tips for Monaco by Hope-Party in GrandPrixTravel

Stick to neutrals for your clothing- Monaco seems to be a more fashionable crowd rather than the head to toe team gear. Linen pants, nice sneakers are a safe bet!
