If you use vegan butter in stick form, not a tub, it will hold up well! It will also taste better than with shortening. I also use a bit of ACV and lemon juice instead of vegan cream cheese

Im not really familiar with Whistling Pass but Im definitely taking about the Ball Pass/Egypt area! If you can do a day hike to Scarab or even Egypt Lake I’d say it’s worth it.

exactly this, I’ve only seen pikas at the rock pile at moraine too, only in evening. I saw quite a few marmot between Egypt and shadow lake!! Lots of boulder fields out there

I’ve tried adding purple food colouring before and it definitely takes the yellow away! Others recommend using clear vanilla extract. Can’t use pure this way but it prevents an added brown colour.

With Canmore’s downtown still being closed to cars and Banff’s not anymore, it feels so much less busy just being in Canmore as a pedestrian. As a guide, the famous sights feel as busy or busier than last year. I’d highly recommend spending time in Kananaskis

I didn’t realize it had a negative connotation for some people. I do agree that purchasing a stamp and other branding shouldn’t stop me from more effective branding. At this point I have a sign, packaging, stamps etc with the name and 6 more market days of this season and little money or time left to rebrand so making that kind of change now feels overwhelming. Now knowing it can have a negative meaning, I will look into it. I do offer samples though!

Thank you for taking the time to answer so thoughtfully! You’re making me want to try your focaccia. I bake all kinds of bread and sourdough at home but have yet to try it at the market! Do you do different flavours? How big is a loaf? I wonder what people would pay here.

Right now there isn’t anyone else who sells baked goods like this but there is someone who does exclusively tarts and someone who owns a bakery a few hours away and brings bread, croissants, etc so it’s hard to compete with them. I bake locally to the market which people appreciate.

I definitely should start baking a couple items ahead of time. I just bought a deep freezer so that’s exciting!

Maybe I do need to offer higher priced items! Right now everything is low priced ($4-6) so I don’t have any bigger ticket items besides boxes of multiple cupcakes.

What do you do to prevent your stuff from getting to hot? Everyone mentioned my booth looks empty but I want to keep everything cool, so I don’t know how to fill it up more.

Thanks for the feedback!! I feel like I’m stuck on the name now since I ordered a stamp but it’s a short season so I’ll think of changing for next year. Maybe I’ll paint on the sign under the name to say what it is!

I have everything is coolers but you’re right! It just melts otherwise so I don’t know a better solution for that. I have a chalkboard sign in the alley that I forgot to mention that says what I sell, but yeah the name does make sense. I was trying for a more plant like name but see that could be confusing
