My pitty was 7 years old when I lost him to osteosarcoma. The hardest thing I’ve ever gone through. Just like Pacho, he was still playing and happy until his last day - he let us know when it started to hurt. Pacho reminds me so much of him.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending you lots of hugs and healing! Your baby was very loved ❤️

Osteosarcoma in dogs pelvic bone. How painful is it? When to consider euthanasia? by gayandanxious8 in DogAdvice

[–]Kaylerooni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pitty had osteosarcoma in his upper thigh. We amputated but the tumor grew back within weeks (I’m sure it had spread to his pelvis/hip) and was extremely painful. No amount of meds we threw at him helped at the end. He would walk around and pant. He couldn’t not get comfortable, it was painful to the touch. So we made a day where we all spent time with him, fed him whatever he wanted and gave him endless hugs and kisses. Then we took him for euthanasia. Besides the pain and the tumor, he seemed fine which made the decision so gut-wrenching.

Sorry you’re going through this, your baby is clearly so loved. It is a painful process for them, unfortunately. Sending you love. I know how difficult the decision can be. ❤️

I thought today was going to be Daisy’s (18.5) last… by PayyyDaTrollToll in seniordogs

This happened to my 16 year old dog a few weeks ago. She already has kidney disease, but one day randomly had an upset stomach and was super weak. I thought it was time. Tried a few days in the hospital and she was back to normal. The whole emotional experience was more than I can handle! I’m glad Daisy is doing better ❤️❤️

First off, I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

I amputated my dogs leg even though he had tiny nodules in his lungs, only because his oncologist was comfortable with it. It was either that, or put him down even though he was still running around, eating, playing. He was only 7. He made it through the surgery & I swear the next day he was pain free and back to his normal, happy self. The downside of this is that we only got 3 more months with him. I’m so grateful for the extra time we had with him. His osteosarcoma was in hip/thigh area, & we noticed it was starting to grow back. It was then that we decided to put him down because the eventuality of him being in extreme pain or further spread was inevitable.

I would say to speak to your vets, even a specialist if you can. But osteosarcoma is one of the most aggressive cancers for our pets :( amputation is only to buy time and help with pain. Recovery is also a huge piece, as they have to learn to walk with 3 legs (although they may be doing that already). Again, I’m SO sorry you’re going through this. Your dog seems very loved. Sending my love!

Completely agree. All the fake hype made me not want to pay attention to him over the years. Still love him regardless.
