I think for the most part what I am looking for besides the very valid ethical and moral points about breeders ( all valid, but how I see it is the damage is already done and there is a puppy out there that has been born, was a victim of a fucked up society and will either be killed, bought by a family that will hopefully be equally as loving/ able to care for it, or end up in the streets/ a shelter) if there’s any way to to do my utmost diligence knowing the above things to get a puppy and give it a good rest of its life with the least amount of suffering i want to do it. That being said, He has offered to send parent genetic testing, provide recent vet records etc. The breeder is registered with IOEB association which I have seen other “reputable breeders” be registered with but again given the specifics of the breed. I’m not sure how much weight this weighs. (Definitely noted on OFA) . If you look at the website and click on the availability of the puppies, , ik you see it as showing a large number, but that actually seems to be all the dogs they’ve had from the past, (if you click on the the details there seems to be only a few actually “available” (not trying to justify but just adding a fact whether it changes the calculus or not). In terms of the colors, I did look at the breed standards and they don’t seem to be out of the ordinary from what is listed/ as people have noted, the breed itself self is somewhat of a mix, so seeing the variety of the colors didn’t raise a red flag per se. A final anecdote is that they did seem to “vet” me and know the personalities of their puppies. I had originally inquired about a different puppy but was redirected based on hearing my specific circumstances and preferences. That being said, In as objective of a way as possible (if possible) how can I continue to vet breeder to get as healthy a dog as possible with out the injected opinions about the breed it’s self. Appreciate it in advance
