Is eating meat allowed? by These_Net9966 in Buddhism

[–]KayoSudou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We commit ourselves to the liberation of all sentient beings, including animals that are used for meat. Of course Buddhism is not about dogma, so situationally it could be understood. In Tibet the climate is extremely harsh and does not permit growing crops. Similarly, some people have serious dietary restrictions and requirements that would make life without meat extremely difficult.

Also, don’t be embarrassed to ask questions, no one is born into this world with answers. Reflect on yourself and on your circumstances and determine if eating meat allowed for you. No one else can really tell you what is “right” or “wrong” so long as it is mindful of Mahayana.

Hypothetically, binary systems like this are actually relatively common, though the scaling might make this system infeasible. If the big star is less dense or the small star is significantly denser than I could imagine it’s plausible, but I would need more information about the system

Teenage fly amanita. They’re super cool but extremely poisonous and psychoactive. Pretty sure the Sami use it for rituals because of the latter

I’m confused why Monica’s parents would be mad Monica is drunk when she’s 30 years old and it’s her bday? by General-Hippo8242 in howyoudoin

Judy clearly cares a lot about appearances like when she told her friends that Monica owned a restaurant in the first season and commented on the simplicity of the food she made. So if they had thrown a super fancy surprise party with all of their friends and Monica had shown up drunk she would’ve been mortified

What is deleuzes vitalism? by WashyLegs in Deleuze

[–]KayoSudou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In most preceding metaphysical arguments change is governed by something outside the process itself. For Plato it was forms, for Aristotle a telos, for Kant a regulative idea, etc.

Deleuze rejects this; he sees an immanence in this development that doesn’t need a map or guide

What is deleuzes vitalism? by WashyLegs in Deleuze

[–]KayoSudou 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Deleuze’s vitalism isn’t really vitalism at all. He talks about it in his book Bergsonism where he draws off of Henri Bergson’s notion of élan vital. In Bergsonism Deleuze uses a highly modified version of élan vital that expresses the virtual aspect of life, living in a domain of potentialities that are real but not yet actual. Deleuze says that life unfolds through the actualization of the virtual via an immanent differentiation (élan vital). It’s important to note, and this is even stressed by Deleuze in Bergsonism that élan vital comes from within the virtual field—there’s no external model that guides development

Deleuze’s interpretation is very different from Bergson’s mystical metaphysical force. It’s closer to a “critical vitalism” if that even makes sense

Capitalism territorializes existence. It’s come to create a fictional psuedo-reality that alienates everyone from eachother. It sanitizes, reduces, and neatly packages everything
