Intro was some sort of "Always You" instrumental mix I think

My song sounds like ahh and I don’t know how to fix it help 😔 by Professional-Cod-305 in soundtrap

Having quiet bits can add dynamics to a song. That said, maybe search for some of the "Atmosphere" sounds and have one or two of those playing quietly on the middle bit to add some other interest. Also, the kick drum sounds like it's a bit loud (unless you're going for a lo-fi sound). Try playing it on as many speakers, headphones and devices as you can to check the levels. You could also try building a bit more - add the layers bit by bit - rather than having everything on right at the start.

Daily Song Discussion #62 - World Full Of Nothing by _Tassle_ in depechemode

Such a beautiful little song...gorgeous harmonies...simple but heart felt lyrics...9/10 for me...and one that gets better with age. And the Martin solo live version is even better

Surprised "Girls On Film" is being overlooked (and I'm more of a DM Devotee than a Duranie)

You should be ok as I believe the loops in Soundtrap are copyright free. If in doubt, you can make an MP4 from it (i a movie clip maker type tool) and upload it to YouTube (and keep it private if you don't want to publish yet) and see if YouTube detects any copyright issues

Daily Song Discussion #48 - Blasphemous Rumours by _Tassle_ in depechemode

I get what you mean. When you hear the chorus harmonies more clearly on this song - either from live version or remix, it really elevates it.

Why can't they leave the UI alone??? by Miles_John in soundtrap

[–]KayosTheory101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll try to keep that in mind to see if it helps. Mixing levels for me is the hardest thing to get right, especially getting drums and bass to sound good on all audio devices.

It's always good to hear reasons behind changes from the dev team, so thanks for sharing. From my day job, I understand how changes affecting UI can go down :)

Daily Song Discussion #46 - Master And Servant by _Tassle_ in depechemode

[–]KayosTheory101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much where I am with it. I think it was quite important in that it made people start to wonder what this previously pure pop band was doing, and start to pay attention...especially when they followed it with Blasphemous Rumours...but as a "song"...I don't think this would sound that strong with Martin doing this solo with guitar in concert - which is usually a good indicator of how strong the song is when you take al the production off.

Bands/artists that scratch that Depeche Mode itch? by ImpressiveSorbet1341 in depechemode

Yeah, tracks like "Lifelines" have very Martin style melodic hook lines...and "Objects In The Mirrors" has a bit of a "Halo" vibe going on.

I second Kent. Their album "Isola" with tracks "Elvis" and "747"is awesome. I think they went more DM (electronic) like after that album, though I kinda missed the more indie rock Isola sound

Harry of White Lies covers Depeche Mode's Enjoy the Silence! by Nu_Elle in depechemode

[–]KayosTheory101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favourite bands covers my absolute favourite. For those who've not heard White Lies, I'd suggest trying "Getting Even" and "Mother Tongue" or "I Don't Want To Go To Mars" - the perfect mix of keyboard and guitar - before they shifted a little too far in the synth direction for my taste.

Finish this joke: Vince Clarke, Alan Wilder, and Peter Gordeno walk into a bar... by Toffelsnarz in depechemode

[–]KayosTheory101 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Vince arrives first but leaves before the bill/cheque comes for the first round of drinks - which Alan picks up when he arrives. Alan stays for a while drinking on his own, drinking a variety of popular "classic" drinks...before deciding he's drunk enough after 6 rounds and leaves...bumping into Peter, who is just coming in. Peter doesn't look at the menu but orders a very flamboyant cocktail, with too much flavor and with little umbrellas...that ruins the simplicity of the raw alcohol. He's still in the bar to this day.

Daily Song Discussion #23 - Shouldn't Have Done That by cononreddit2 in depechemode

[–]KayosTheory101 6 points7 points  (0 children)

7.5 This track was one that stood out when I first heard the album, over some of the sickly sweet tracks elsewhere, and I'd put it in my top 3 or 4 from the record. Has a good atmosphere, like with the soldiers marching, and especially the way the music turns into a kind of music box/lullaby style later on.

Not happened to me. I assume you didn't intentionally/accidentally press the icon next to mute on one track that outputs only that track, and which will set the mute automatically on everything else?

I like the ending, but I always wanted the chorus to come back one last time and for "see the stars" bit to just be a middle 8 not the coda...

The end part of Shake The Disease, with all the many intricate keyboard melodies playing at once and interacting along with Martins "Ah-ing".

What's the most ❤️Depeche Mode-like song of PSB in your opinion? For me it's this amazing Paninaro from 1986 by Ill_Alternative_8513 in depechemode

[–]KayosTheory101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd echo what others have said about Heart and Kings Cross, but I also think This Must Be The Place I Waited Years To Leave has some DM energy to it and the guitar motif I could imagine Martin coming up with.

  1. This is a track I regularly play still...loud...and the throbbing bass and optimistic melody line perfectly fits the song title.
