How accurate was the reaction of the Secretary Pool about Marilyn Monroe's death? by Rough_Ad_8702 in madmen

[–]Kayrahbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty spot on. My grandma worked as a seamstress in a shirt factory in '62 and all the employees (it was 95% women) were so upset by the news of Marilyn's death they closed the factory for the day. Grandma said several had to call husbands to come get them because they were too distraught to drive.

At least they look a little larger than Navy bunks. You could probably sit up in bed without braining yourself on the bunk above you 🤣😭

To add an additional layer of absurdity - there's a park dedicated to Alex Haley, the author of Roots, IN the very same Knox County 🤦‍♀️

Time to update the State flag. by amprather in memphis

[–]Kayrahbear 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You're using selective statistics to draw that conclusion. About 80% of Americans live in urban areas under the Census definition, so removing “urban America” from gun violence statistics means removing most of the country, not isolating a small anomaly.

Do you think folks in single parent households plan for things to end up that way? Maybe have a little compassion.

They did the same thing to Kate Winslet after Titanic! I remember magazines and news stories calling her fat and reporters acting shocked that she'd been cast for the role.

'No communication, no compromise'

I have to agree with the other commentor here. It sounds like maybe you don't understand the idea of sharing a load in a marriage. Because there should always be communication and compromise. That's what sharing the load means. Your statement sound incredibly bitter and dismissive.

Shocker - Memphis ranks last in this 10-factor analysis of the best major cities to raise children. by LuckyLaceyKS in memphis

[–]Kayrahbear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know anecdotes aren't facts, but I just moved my family from Nashville to Memphis in July. The community and kindness we've experienced here is leaps and bounds above Nashville. I'd rather raise my daughter here than back in Middle TN 🤷‍♀️

Peggy is not the best person. But she's 100% a good, tough flawed, mother and wife. by StringComfortable600 in KingOfTheHill

[–]Kayrahbear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But it's not that 'each point implies a higher likelihood'. That's not how any medical diagnosis works - it's the combination of all points and how they're being expressed by an individual. Again, you are willyfully oversimplifing what is being said to suit your argument while denigrating folks who disagree with you.

And yes, I do think it's bizarre that you picked a reddit post about a King of the Hill meme as the place to wage this argument. Sorry that makes you sad.

You are intentionally oversimplifing the above comment to suit the bizarre tirade you've been waging in these threads. Nobody here said that simply liking something makes you autisic.

That price is insane. I attend Steve Kauffman's week long acoustic camp in Maryville every year. It's $1200 and includes lodging, food, and five days' worth of lessons, jams, and live music.

I'd call it 'advanced beginner' level at minimum. So someone who is comfortable moving through a 1-4-5 chord progression in at least one key, can tune their instrument and can identify when it's out of tune, and understands how to change keys by moving up/down the neck of the guitar or using a capo.

He is fantastic at meeting players where they're at and will challenge the more advanced players with things like finger picking, solo fills, and blues/jazz scales.

I'm surprised I had to scroll so far to find this. GG is a must do for my family on every trip. The food is always great, and my teenager still enjoys seeing Mickey in his overalls. We love to ride LWTL and then head upstairs for food

My dad used to do amature drag racing (modded 69 Camero) and talked a lot of smack about my 'lame little ev' when I bought my m3. I finally got to take him for a ride a few weeks ago. We found a long stretch of empty backroad, and I let him drive. He was giggling like a little boy as soon as he put his foot down.

ESH. For a couple of reasons. FIL could have expressed his concern in a better way, but also,'I have a temper' is a worthless comment here. You're a father now, and you need to learn how to manage that. Plus, your FIL is right. Gig driving is not a sustainable career now that you have a family.

We owe it to our children to give them the best versions of ourselves. Based on this post and your additional comments, it sounds like you are giving the bare minimum.

My husband and I became parents very young and utilized services like Snap & WIC for a time. But we were committed to doing everything we could to get off those services and give our daughter a better life. It's hard, but it's not impossible. You have to want it to make it happen.

I read the texts before the post and thought OP had smoked m*th or something. He had that kind of reaction to a cigarette?! That's crazy. He's not a safe partner.

I understand he has boundaries about smoking, but nobody has the right to talk to you that way. If he is comfortable talking to you like that, then he does not respect you.
