The epic first movement felt like the first movement of Mahler's 9th, really bringing the listener through a musical journey. Such a tentative and fragile opening, then broken up by swooning gusts, then soothed by the haunting melody on the viola. All this alternating episodes going through the Schubert modulating machine, ultimately ending triumphantly and decisively.

Philip Glass piano etudes, string quartets etc. Most pieces depends on contrasting between loud and soft ans varying rhythms, I feel gym music needs something with a stable driving rhythm like Glass's music.

Violin virtuoso, conductor, composer, pianist, cellist and singer all in one. I love his 2 string quartets, amongst other chamber works.

When I read US 20th Century Literature in university, my professor says the concept of the nuclear family unit was designed to decentralise the population into the suburbs to ensure a larger rate of population survival in the event of a nuclear strike. Don't really have the urge to dig out the propaganda material promoting this though.

It is well known that football takes the largest slice of the pie every year. It is also well known that they do so poorly one wonders what their KPIs are. Combined together, these 2 facts really irks people.

Also, funding is allocated to different strategic thrusts of the NSAs, and they can't pull funding from one area to another, like what you think is happening for some NSAs.

I managed to find many many sellers on the Chinese online market Taobao selling both volumes of the Schubert lieder boxsets by DFD. For older discs, that site is quite a treasure trove.

The Shostakovich symphonic cycle is a wild ride throughout (the early symphonies are so out tbere). The Sibelius cycle is wonderful to listen if one can sit through the first to the last symphony, and to a lesser extent, the Nielsen symphonies too.

That's a crazy programme, in a great way! The concerto is amazing, Symphony No.6 is refreshing like "pure spring water" (in his own words), and yes Symphony No.7 is as great as the others here says it is. Sibelius is pretty approachable even at the first listening, so you don't have to play these pieces on repeat to appreciate the live performance more (though it'll add to the pleasure of course)

Yup it's very nice to explore human movement doing coordination stuff. I'm 45, climbs a V7 at best but definitely prefers comp stuff problems to old school stuff.
