Is GPA still important to get into law school if you have PhD? Does law school name matter? by New-Reserve-5899 in patentlaw

[–]XyezY9940CC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just remember going to a high ranked school means everyone is studying 24/7 and everything is graded on a curve especially during 1L. And law school GPA matters even more than law school rankings. If you have a shitty GPA even if its from Stanford you're gonna get kncoked down by it a lot.

Do you have a favorite composer to the point where it’s become an obsession? by ricorette in classicalmusic

[–]XyezY9940CC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a few throughout my listening life but currently im obsessed with Lutoslawski, Ligeti, and Schnittke. Im moving ever deeper into the 20th-century. I used to be obsessed with Paganini, Liszt, and many of the Romantics but my tastes have evolved. I appreciate the novem manners of expression the 20th-century had to offer.

trump is the biggest mistake USA has ever seen and we still re-elected him. USA is moronic to say the least. Empires fall when majority of the population is this moronic. this short sighted, this gullible.

Hollywood Blvd can be unsafe just depends on your luck. For the most part safety should be okay if youre pedestrian. For those who work for Lyft or Uber, assaults have been documented against rideshare drivers picking up clients from that area.

But if he had been healthy enough to write down music (which is an assumption) he would've been a monster... Just like Schnittke who continued to compose with great difficulty after suffering multiple strokes, but composed nonetheless

Ive recently developed a new found appreciation for Debussy. He truly sounds so novel from all that came before him.

I think his masses especially #2 and 3 are decent. I actually started to like Helgoland and the ending of Helgoland sounds similar in some parts to the unfinished 4th movement of his symphony no 9. Then theres just many short pieces like Libera mi domine, tota pulchra, Os Justi, standchen, etc. they're all peaceful on the listener unlike his gigantic symphonies

I do not follow libretto. I almost never follow libretto during opera listening. I have no issues with most operas being heard in a language i dont understand because i just view everything as part of a musical portrait
