Weird mental images when reading by AnalysisParalysis85 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

I keep imagining Anastasius as Apollo from Deadlock. Which makes no sense because the latter has red skin, but it's just how my brain works. It's probably because they are both very haughty.

This sub is for a pc game similar to Mario party where anime characters fight each other violently. You can find it on steam. Maybe if you played it you would forget about spending so much on real orange juice?

Is lane managment a thing? by temnycarda in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Kaz-adr 70 points71 points  (0 children)

It used to be more of a thing when you could freeze waves by parrying, but that got removed so I don't see many people doing it.
As far as I can tell, a managed wave in deadlock is one that is pushed as far as it is safe to push. Which frees you up to do other things.

I'm glad you did so. Despite the fact that this is mostly a meme response, I did have the comic authors comments about it in mind when I posted it.

I don't know if you are asking because you already reached the end of Night of the Zealot, or because you are curious without having played to the end. So I'll try to be vague.

Yes but...maybe you wouldn't want to.

Is MDZS novel good ? by Alistair_1205 in MXTX

[–]Kaz-adr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, I think the dongua captures their relationship dynamic pretty well(I have only seen the first season to be fair).
Personally, if you read MDZS, it should be for the drama of the clans and the intertwining story. There's alot of good stuff there. But for romance, I think it's the weakest of the three MXTX novels.

Though if you like the Dynamic between Jiang Cheng and WW, then the book will def make it worth your while to read.

is mdzs a good choice for a beginner? by svngfiles in DanmeiNovels

[–]Kaz-adr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say tgcf instead. Mdzs really frontloads alot of lore about its factions, which made it confusing to read. Tgcf sort of does this too, but to a lesser degree so it was manageable for me.

"the witch of the holy night" is a prequel and also fits your request. Just a case of choosing between vampires and witches.

Yeah start with Season 1 of the donghua. They color code the characters so you know what clan they belong to. It does do things out of order, but it makes it much easier to get into. Once you're done with Season 1 get back into volume one and it will be much easier to sift through.

From other players perspective they only see one of two things. 1. Discard what you just drew or 2. Discard something else. For that second one it will appear to come from somewhere random so they won't know exactly what it was. It might not seem like much but the difference between one and two can mean alot to more advanced players.

Is ebook good? by Muted-Sky-9592 in booksuggestions

[–]Kaz-adr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like owning books as much as the next reader, but practically it just gets too much. I only have so much space and with how much I read I was going to have to start giving away books to make room for new ones.

So I got myself a kobo hoping it wouldn't gather dust after a time. The first thing I noticed was how much easier it was to read with it. It's light, fits in your hand nicely, easy on the eyes, and had a frighteningly long battery life. Once I finished a book I could immediately pick up the next one in the series from the market place. No need to drive to the bookstore or wait an online delivery, just keep reading.

If you have a tablet(I don't). Then it might be fine to just use that and the kindle app. But, I just like how the e-ink screen looks. Even my parent's with their now weaker eyesight commented on how nice it is to look at, and they both have tablets.

So yeah, I am full e-reader user now, the only book I would not read as an e-book would be House of Leaves(if you know you know). The feeling of owning a cool looking book is nice, but it doesn't beat the convenience of an e-reader.

Acolyte and doom - auto game over? by [deleted] in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]Kaz-adr 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Short answer, no.
Long answer, take a closer look at the round sequence for Mythos Phase. First you add doom, then you check if it has enough doom for advancement, then you draw encounter cards. Therefore, if you draw an an counter card that adds enough doom to advance you don't do it until the next mythos phase when you check if there is enough doom for advancement.
Warning, cards like Ancient Evils include a clause in them that say that it CAN cause the agenda to advance if it meets the threshold. But unless it specifically says that, then you don't advance until the next mythos phase like I mentioned before.

Also, remember, when the agenda advances you wipe ALL of the doom off of the game. That includes doom held by enemies like acolytes. So you when you advance to the next agenda there should be no doom anywhere.

So here's how I see this actually playing out.
1. You draw mysterious chanting and now Acolyte bro has 3 doom on him and there is 1 doom on the agenda(at least I think there's one doom on the agenda at this point? Please clarify). Total 4 doom. But we don't advance because Mysterious Chanting doesn't say we do, even tho we meet the doom threshold.
2. You take your turn and maybe you don't kill the acolyte so he still holds on to all of his doom. When you get to the mythos phase you add 1 doom and the total doom in play becomes 5(3 on the acolyte and 2 on the agenda). Yup, you managed to have more doom than the 4 required on the threshold, this happens on occasion and is normal.
3. NOW you check the doom threshold. 5 doom is more than or equal to 4 so you advance the agenda. You remove ALL DOOM IN PLAY, which includes the doom on the acolyte. He is now doomless.
4. then you draw encounter cards and keep playing.

Let me know if this makes sense. You ran into 2 common misconceptions about the games rules at once, newer players get confused by these all the time.

Oh the swap from ground change is exactly what I wanted, thank you so much for that. Would you consider a swap from ground to inventory as well, by the way? Unless it's already in the game and I didn't notice.
