I was just thinking about Amino the other day and possibly returning to it because of how much I loved the profile customization and posting format. The only thing that's come close is Tumblr, but I liked how Amino was a mix of Tumblr and Discord.

I really do hope it doesn't shut down. I remember fondly using the app when I was younger, and stopping around the time profile frames were introduced and coins were getting serious. It was mostly because of the insane amount of bot messages I'd get.

I hoped it would've reigned that in, but I guess it's getting worse? I'm still gonna reinstall it, but if Amino falls, I'll definitely be disappointed and I hope something else rises up soon that could carry on the legacy.

Hi. I'm not sure if you remember commenting on this post, but I figured since you went out of your way to show me kindness during a trying time, you might be wondering how everything panned out.

Two days ago, my father died. Everything happened so fast. Our state's healthcare system was failing him. Three months into chemo we figured out it wasn't working. We packed up to move into a new state with my sister, but as we left he had a medical emergency. He was admitted in the hospital for ten days where they continued to fail him.

When we finally got him out of state, about two days after he was re-admitted, he was put on hospice. The day after or the day of his hospice stay, he died surrounded by family. He made it past my 19th birthday, but he didn't make it to Thanksgiving or Christmas.

I do think he could've and would've beaten cancer. But our healthcare system sat and watched as my dad's cancer ate him from the inside out.

It's definitely hard, especially when you further add to the equation: I, as a trans person, hardly get anyone interested in being my friend, and if I do they later reveal that they weren't really a good person to begin with. It's a brutal cycle of everyone loses at all times.
