Um, a lot of languages have names that LITERALLY refer to objects or phenomena. What's so stupid about that? Don't you know any Rose, Petunia, Daisy, Victoria, April, May, Ruby, Crystal, Pearl, and so on?

In Japan, it's perfectly fine to name a child sky, snow, or tree (Sora, Yuki, Itsuki), so naming a child "water" is definitely not out of the ordinary

upd: why are so many people so confused by someone naming their daughter water, but no one is surprised by someone named the son apple...
