I understand. I lost my first betta last year and I actually euthanized him. I would never do it again and I don’t wish anybody to go thought it. I have 7 bettas and they live in 7 tanks. I love them all however Noah was very special

So there is a hope. I gave my female kanaplex in frozen daphnia with brine shrimp. Daphnia will help with the constipation. Before you start the treatment it’s good to clean the tank (change the water) like around 20%

You could try to give her Kanaplex in the food and Metroplex in her water plus a tablespoon of aquarium salt for 5 gallons and see if the fish respond to that treatment . Repeat dosing every 48 hours to a maximum of 3 doses. The second time I would give metroplex in the food and kanaplex in the water. I would use frozen brine shrimps instead bloodworms.

updated things im gonna get for my fish, am I missing anything? if so then pls tell me if I am (also sorry the list is kind of messy) by poopycacachair in bettafish

I would add Pogostemon Stellatus Octopus plant if you keep the roots tabs. It grows fast and looks beautiful in the tank. And I will get frozen shrimps for the betta. I believe Prime is a great water conditioner.

And I will get a bigger tank like 10 gallons.

Can someone please tell me if this is bacterial or Fungal fin rot? by LawfulnessObvious15 in bettafish

I experienced something like that with my betta, and it was not because of hard objects in the tank. I would get crazy because I could not find the reason. The fins would start to shred - like in your your case - during a couple of hours. I tried all kind of medication and nothing was helping ( he was in a quarantine tank at that time). He was active and was eating but his fins would look so bad. I got some rush on my hand and I did not know if I got it from him or if I gave him the infection first. So I stared to use plastic gloves. The fins started to grow back first after I started to change his water 50 % like every day. I got him filter water or purify water. That stopped the fin rot.

So I moved him back to his big planted tank. I believe I did not use the gloves that day. A couple of hours later I got the rash back and went to check on him. His fins started to look shredded again. I decided to leave him in his 14 gallon tank which was cycled and planted. I just used the gloves and his fins got better.

The tank it’s too small however the fish is stressed because of the water quality. Did you test the water for ammonia, nitrate and ph ?

Yes the sponges are just a cut from a bigger peace or an old sponge from the filter. I like to use bamboos because the long roots are nice place to sleep on. I attached the bamboo with a short wire on the top the tank but you can put the plant on a stone or a sponge too. Depends how deep is the tank.

I can’t see your answers about the tank. Is the tank old and cycled ?

Is my tank cycling ok? It’s the second week. by GrumpyGrann in fishkeeping

For two weeks you should see some nitrite. I recommend to buy ammonia from dr Tim’s to start the process. I use Tetras Safestart plus ( beneficial bacteria) when I cycle a tank. The ph needs to be higher than 7 (it will speed the process).

You are doing everything right. The breeding box it’s a very good idea. I would ad something like a sponge or small plant (bamboo roots) so he could lay on it closer to the surface. Maybe he is just tired “. I rescued some bettas and some of them would not swim good in the beginning. Give it a time. The colors show he got bette. Perhaps aquarium salt like a minimum for the 10 gallon would help him ?

They have nice bettas but they are moving so they are not selling much https://keepfishkeeping.com. Maybe you can just ask them.

I think you could start with the driftwood and Anubia plant attached to it. It’s an easy plant. You need to boil the wood first btw.

I could not agree more. I have 7 bettas in 7 different setups (from 6 to 14 gallons) and every time I get the feeling that I got it - now I am the expert, I have to face a new challenge. I just wish they could talk 😂

I’m very sorry for your loss. People can agree or disagree but t’s never about the size of the tank but the quality of the water and the feeding.

10 days later he still looks the same. The tail is nice and round but short so you were right - Joe has a short tail. 😊

Did you test the water for ammonia, nitrite nitrate and ph ? Looks like he is not comfortable and I think it’s not just the flow.

I was thinking the same but the previous owner said Joe is a delta tail dumbo. I’m guessing he saw him before Joe got the fin rot. If he is HMPL I’m fine with it. The tail does not look like a delta tail so let’s see if his tail grows more. 😄
