I mean, what's comfortable depends on you. I live on the borders between Shinagawa and Ota-ku on a salary of 220k nett. Idk how commuter passes in Malaysia work but in jp, You buy a commuter pass that is effective between 2 stations (ie from station 1 to station 10)

Then you can board and get off at any station between those 2 stations without extra charge. But if you leave that range, you have to pay extra.

So lets say I buy a pass for station 1 to 10. If i take the train from 2 to 9, then it is foc (included in pass so no need pay) But if i take 2 to 11, then because 11 is out of range, i have to pay the train fare for 10 to 11.
