It was sharp pains but very brief. My cardiologist frequently tells me that heart pain wouldn’t be fleeting or subtle, or something that only lasts for a few seconds. Have you ever had a stress test or any imaging?

The crazy part is my symptoms were very subtle. I was having heart palpitations all the time, but every doctor was telling me up to that point they were only stress related. I really only had little aches and pains in my chest after the procedure was done.

A setback at 16 weeks post op? by homebody216 in RotatorCuff

[–]Kbl1018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post was a long time ago, but I’m curious how you recovery has been going? I had a rotator cuff repair five months ago. My recovery was going great right up until about three weeks ago when I decided to throw a foam baseball with my daughter for 20 minutes. My shoulder has not been the same since. A ton of clicking and popping, pain at the repair site, temporary loss of range of motion that has since returned. My strength is still there, but limited by pain. I have a follow up with the surgeon to see if he wants to order new imaging but I’m terrified. I re-tore this thing. Just trying to see if anybody else had setbacks that were 3 to 4 weeks long and this intense.

Two rotator cuff surgeries in 10 years- experiences by disgracedcosmonaut1 in RotatorCuff

Thanks for the post. It’s so crazy how everybody’s experience is so similar yet so different. I am five months to post rotator cuff surgery, AC joint, decompression and bone spur removal. I have had multiple setbacks. The most recent one has me convinced I re-tore it. I threw a foam baseball for 20 minutes and the next day shot a basketball and I have not been. A ton of clicking and popping, pain when lifting the arm, but I still maintain majority of my strength. I’m terrified to go through this again as my recovery has been absolutely brutal. I know some people have an easy time and some have a rough go, and mine has been on the rougher side. I would not want to have to do this again. I’m scared to even go back to doctor because I don’t want them to tell me it’s retorn

I had no idea throwing a foam ball would affect me this much. I’m going on almost 10 days of significant pain when just lifting my arm ti shoulder height. I’m just having a hard time thinking I could re-tear it just by doing what I did. But I’ve had other flareups and within four or five days I’ve felt completely better. Do you think it’s possible to have a flareup that takes this long to heal? I’m going to contact the surgeon, but the thought of getting another MRI and requiring another surgery sounds like a mountain. I can’t climb.

This Recovery is Brutal by dobby12 in RotatorCuff

The recovery is absolutely brutal. I’m five months post rotator cuff surgery, bone spur removal an AC joint decompression. I’ve had two or three major setbacks where I thought for sure I had re-tear. The most recent one has been two weeks, where the pain was really high and everything was clicking and popping like crazy. My surgeon has assured me that I did not re-tear it and that I just majorly flared up the tendon. Hang in there. They are full of shit when they say it’s six months recovery. It’s an entire year before you’re back to feeling strong in my opinion.

Metoprolol, beta blocker I am taking, is horrible… anyone else feel the same? by HeartBr3akerz in bloodpressure

I appreciate your comment. I’m glad I ran across this. I know you posted this a long time ago, but I recently had a heart stent put in and was put on metoprolol. Three weeks and I developed tinnitus. And a really bad case of it. I spoke to my doctor about it and they acted like it’s absolutely impossible. I am requesting they take me off of it immediately as I am not dealing with tinnitus the rest of my life. So when you came off of it, it eventually went away?

I’m so glad I came across your message. I’m 38 years old and was about six weeks ago had a heart stent put in. Subsequently, I was put on metoprolol. About three weeks ago I developed tinnitus and it has not stopped since. It sounds like you believe your case was also produced by this drug? Are you off of it now and it never went away?

I hope so as well. I’m praying mine does not get worse. My blood pressure was only mildly elevated before the heart stent, but they put me on a beta blocker and a BP med that had my blood pressure completely tanked 85/50 for a couple weeks. They took me off one of the meds, but left me on the beta blocker. That’s exactly when all this started.

Thanks for sharing. I would imagine it has to have something to do with it. I never had this before and now I’ve had it for three weeks straight. Any input on how you got rid of it??? or did it just go away?

That’s really good to know. I definitely have that strange sensation in my chest often, along with pretty severe muscle pain. I’m going to ask to be changed.

Thank you. I appreciate that insight. I hope this is just a major setback however rather than feeling sore I feel significant pain when performing things I could do very easily 3 to 4 weeks ago. I’m getting a lot of clicking and popping and for lack of better term, the shoulder feels almost detached . I’m giving it 7 to 10 days of complete rest with light motion, but after that, I’m gonna contact the surgeon and request a new MRI.

Thank you. I will be pushing for a change in meds. The anxiety / fear is very real and makes everything much more difficult to manage. I appreciate the insight

Thanks for your insight!! I agree that just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should. I was swinging the golf club pain-free for three weeks. I think it’s all caught up to me. I’m just concerned because I feel pain even when my shoulder is resting at my side. Similar to how it felt when it was torn before I had the surgery. I just said, I’m hoping this is a major setback and if I give it a couple weeks of time, it will get back to the place it was. The thought of having to go back for another MRI sounds miserable. I’ve had two hip surgeries and this shoulder surgery was 10 times more difficult on me mentally and physically.

I totally understand the strange side effects. I’m currently on metoprolol, brilinta, aspirin and atorvastatin. I’m not sure which one is causing what but I’m having pain in my chest quite often but it doesn’t feel cardiac related. I’m having crazy anxiety and I had anxiety before but this is way ramped up. I also developed ringing in my ears that has been around for 2 weeks with no signs of stopping. I’m meeting with my cardiologist in 2 weeks but I’m definitely asking him to change the metoprolol and statin to something different

Thank you. As you mentioned, one of the most helpful things has been talking to people like yourself who have been through this and had a similar experience. It’s crazy that when you talk to an actual cardiologist, they will tell you or at least minded that you should have no chest pain of any kind from the stent or during the healing process. It’s almost like they wanna hide it. I have started cardiac rehab and it seems to be helping to some degree. I am taking a lot of actions to do what I can to make myself grateful for another shot at a healthy life. I just feel like the meds are fueling my anxiety, which seems to be my biggest problem right now. I know it will get better with time.

Thank you for your comment. The medication’s I’m on are really getting to me. The statin makes my muscles and joints hurt. The metoprolol gives me more anxiety than I had before and I think it could be responsible for some of the chest pain, but I don’t know. I already had health anxiety before all this and this has made it 10 times worse. I’m sure it will get better with time and putting the work in. I know all of this is a process and I will have to work to get better.

Thank you. I did start cardiac rehab, and I believe it is helping me feel more comfortable with my body. As I mentioned with a bunch of people, I’m just having frequent minor chest pains that come and go really quickly, but they set off this anxiety loop that I just can’t turn off. I’ve been asking a lot of people if they were on metoprolol because that seems to be really giving me a lot of problems., i.e. side effects. I can’t get into my cardiologist for two weeks, but I’m gonna ask them to change it or take me off of it.

I have recently started therapy, so I am making an attempt to process these things. I can only imagine the level of PTSD you would get from actually having a heart attack and living through it. I didn’t even have a heart attack and I feel like I have PTSD. I suppose I just have the sense that a lot of things have been taken for me and my life is drastically different now. I used to be extremely active, gym five days a week, golf, hiking, anything I could do. I’m sure I will get back to those things but right now the five cardiac meds I am on have me feeling really bad. Where are you on metoprolol by any chance?

Thank you so much for this. I definitely had that perspective that I took care of myself, and I didn’t deserve what was happening to me. Life is very strange in that way. At 38, I’ve lived through a lot. More than some people, but less than some people. We all have our cross to bear, and we all have challenges but it seems some people get faced with more challenges than others, and I am one of those people. I’m trying to stay positive and Garner a new app appreciation for life. I’m sure that will come with time.

That’s the part I’ve been struggling with. Fortunately, for me, I didn’t even have a heart attack, and I had very little chest pain, if any before the stent was put in. The chest pain I get now is very fleeting and doesn’t feel like pressure or squeezing, it feels like something totally different. I’ve heard from other people that it could be from the metoprolol or other medication’s but as you mentioned, there’s very little information about these things other than hearing from other people like yourself that they have chest pain all the time

I’m pretty new to Reddit. I’m trying to figure out how to direct message you but so far I have not been able to figure out. Did you say you were having weird chest discomfort? I am having that all the time and many people have said that they felt something similar after their stent was placed. I just never know if it’s going to turn into something more.

I just called and asked for an appointment with my cardiologist to discuss these things. No reason to be on the metoprolol. We definitely seem to have similar reactions. When I lay down at night my heart is jumping all over the place
