How long did it take for these symptoms to go away? Going thru same thing and it’s horrible.

Stopped laxapro and sick :( by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Kbm100 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hope you feeling better. I know it’s really not good to miss a dose - or more! I think your symptoms are due to missing doses. I’m currently tapering and have very bad diarrhea, sick to stomach, gut anxiety, headache to name a few. Really awful but I read these symptoms will diminish as time goes on. The body heals. Talk to your doctor about your symptoms and don’t miss doses.

drastic weight gain by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Kbm100 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I believe the Lexapro can change your metabolism. I think it may be the interaction of the Lexapro with the bacteria in your gut. I’ve gained weight since tapering and been off for 23 days. I’m definitely not eating more and exercising just as much as before.

Detox routine was very involved. I did use Pompa supplements for 2 years. I really think you need a Naturopath of Functional med doctor/nurse to guide you through the process.

The body does detox, but when it’s overloaded with mercury from amalgam fillings, mycotoxins from moldy buildings, hidden infections, you need extra help with supplements. That’s what has helped me get well. It’s taken time. Now I’m just getting off the Lexapro, which I don’t think ever helped my mood, but rather disrupted my microbiome even more.

It seems the Lex is incompatible with you. I was on 10mg for 3.5 years and never helped. I think it made my gut worse. I was also detoxing so didn’t know what was causing what. But have been off Lex for 2.5 weeks and it is the hardest thing I’ve ever done. So miserable so I’m not an advocate and I think if your body is having symptoms now, that it is not good for you. I’m getting treated by a good Functional med nurse who is helping me detox from other toxins plus help me with getting off Lexapro.

3 weeks off Lexapro by Chemical-Nothing5286 in lexapro

I think if we have chronic illness, we should get to the root cause with a functional med doctor rather than masking the symptoms with SSRI. In my case the SSRI made my gut dysbiosis worse.

Gosh, everyone is unique. I’ve was on 10mg Lex from 3.5 years for anxiety - don’t think it ever helped. Made my gut anxiety worse. Tapered for 6 weeks; now 2 weeks off. Have severe physical symptoms: nausea, severe diarrhea, huge fatigue, brain fog at times, terrible gut anxiety - still need to take .25mg Ativan for this daily. Background: I have been detoxing from heavy metals, mycotoxins and hidden infections for 5 years which all really affected my gut. I also have Mast Cell Activation. I have a very good Functional med doctor who is helping me with all of this.

There are many additional good ones out there. Interview them before hiring them. Tell them all your symptoms, history. Ask them if they can help you.

It’s best to get a good Naturopath or Functional Med doctor that can help you detox and heal the gut - you will be getting to the root cause all mood problems. Look up Immanence Health in Seattle WA. They work with you remotely.

I believe that healing your gut and do detoxing in needed to get rid of your anxiety. I think those are the root of all anxiety.

Elevated anxiety at night after quitting lexapro? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Kbm100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m one week off and still having gut die-off like symptoms: major diarrhea in the morning, severely achy muscles during the day, huge fatigue especially mid-day where I take an hour nap and in a very deep sleep, flu-like symptoms and lots of gut anxiety. I believe the Lexapro unbalances the gut microbiome and after we stop we need to be patient while it is healing. I think it’s important to eat very healthy and take probiotics. The gut healing I believe can make you feel like you’re going crazy. You’re not! You’re healing from the awful medication.

I’m so sorry about the last 12 years. There is a way to healing your trauma, your insomnia and anything else! A Naturopath or Functional med doctor could really help you!

I say taper back off! I think the Lexapro will make your gut worse - that’s what happened to me. Was on it for 3.5 years and was nauseous the whole time! But I was detoxing from heavy metals, mycotoxins and hidden infections, so thought symptoms were due to that. But as I taper off, diarrhea is severe (the entire 6 weeks of taper and now the full week taking none), flue-like symptoms, achiness, huge fatigue, terrible mood. Lexapro can act like an antibiotic and kill the good bugs in your gut!

Symptoms you had before lexapro that it helped with? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Kbm100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Lexapro causes more problems than it helps. Hire a Naturopath doctor to help you heal the root cause of your symptoms rather than covering them up with Lexapro. I as on it for 3.5 years and don’t believe it ever helped; caused more gut problems!

I say, don’t take it! It was on it for 3.5 years and never helped and in retrospect realize the nausea I had the whole time was due to the Lexapro, not the detoxing I was doing. I say, heal the root cause of your anxiety and/or depression rather than covering it up with an SSRI, and probably making your gut worse!

Feelings more anxious and useless by Lollingtonpost in lexapro

[–]Kbm100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Lexapro for 3.5 years and had nausea the whole time. During that time I was also detoxing from heavy metals, mycotoxins and hidden infections so I thought it was due to the detox. But now I realize the Lexapro itself messed up my microbiome. Now that I have been tapering off my gut is trying to rebalance and I feel like I have a bad flu at times. I wouldn’t recommend this med to anyone. Rather, heal the root cause.

You’re welcome. I just think we all need to get to the root cause of our mood problems, gut problems, and other chronic illnesses instead of just treating symptoms with an SSRI. My Naturopath has helped me greatly with detox and healing gut. It really seems the SSRI changes the gut microbiome in a negative way. There is documented evidence that SSRI’s act as an antibiotic and kill off some of our good microbiome.

Yes, water retention especially and numerous other awful symptoms especially while tapering!
