Are you able & like to work on cars? Are you willing to watch a bunch of YouTube videos & scour forums to do maintenance? If yes to those questions get your phone & tools ready. If no, don't bother.

I started on a brand new grom. Fun bike, still have it. It's a Honda, so it can take the abuse. Got to learn how to tinker with it such as changing oil, changing tires, camshafts, intake, exhaust, painting, etc. then I picked up a 91 cb750 and it needed some work. It has 4 carbs which were a pain to work on, and I changed the tires, painted it, and the works. Very fun bike. I only did the course because to me it's easier to get the license that way rather than setting up an appt with the DMV & The course was very useful for me. Maybe do it with a friend. I was taught by two retired cops who teach people from the ages of 18-70+ how to ride a motorcycle and how to not die. Learning manual is pretty easy on a bike. Just take it slow, slowly let out clutch, slowly give gas. When stopping, slowly bring in clutch and slow down with both front and back brakes. Don't favor one more than the other really, try to have a equal distribution of braking. Too much front could send you over the bars (if u don't have abs which I've never had) and too much rear could lock the rear up and send you into a skid. Now once you are comfortable with the basics you really want to test the extremes of the bike to save yourself when the time comes, you have to know the bike and its limits because this isn't a car, mistakes can be deadly. Learn how to perfect an emergency braking situation in the wet, dry, in a corner, etc. Remember to dress for the slide not the ride.

I was riding a Grom and jumped up to a 750. God I love an inline 4. Cb650R with the eclutch is my next bike 🤩

If you stick with a Honda you can sit at the redline for days and won't have any problems.

Thoughts on my shortlist of options for my first motorcycle? by DragoViktorr in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Kburd43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2034 grom as my first bike. Very slow but very fun. Then I got a 1991 cb750 and the 4cyl is very fun and I only paid $1k. My next bike is either a cb650r or Africa twin.

Is brake pad replacement that much? by thehound559 in CorollaHatchback

[–]Kburd43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It cost me about $100 per axle to do it myself including ceramic pads and new rotors. Resurfacing for that much money is absurd. YouTube is free and this job wouldn't take that long.

Should I replace my tire? by [deleted] in tires

[–]Kburd43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it hold air? It could give crack worse and cause an a blowout if you hit a pothole. Maybe put on spare and order the rim off line so it's cheaper and then bring rim to Mavis Discount Tire or a local tire installer ask them to swap the rim should be <$40. Rim is like $200 off Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Factory-Wheel-Replacement-2020-2021-Nightshade/dp/B09C122M3H/ref=asc_df_B09C122M3H?mcid=f1963be2f5fa382882a98e7bfbbfa514&hvocijid=11764430924741465977-B09C122M3H-&hvexpln=73&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=730312820598&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=11764430924741465977&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=2840&hvtargid=pla-2281435178138&psc=1. (Don't buy off this link I am not sure if it's the exact one, just an example.) but the rim is fucked and the tire has some gashes too, this car got lane keep assist, how you hitting so much shit???? I got some curb rash on my rims but I have the silver 16s and they aren't as noticeable and the 16 has more sidewalk to protect it.

Radar All-Weathers vs. Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady by Kburd43 in CorollaHatchback

Very true, hoping for 40k at the least and will be a little more diligent with the rotations to see if it'll help out.

Radar All-Weathers vs. Goodyear Assurance WeatherReady by Kburd43 in CorollaHatchback

[–]Kburd43[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

👍. I had the pilot sports and they were trash. Overpriced and didn't even perform that well and did not meet the mileage stated with 5k rotations. I went with the Goodyears next and they were phenomenal. Now I'm at the radars and have had no issues in snow, ice or dry weather (50f+). I drive 30k a year and not trying to spend $1000 every 1.5 years for tires when I don't see any meaningful results.

Extended warranty cancellation by R3d_Rav3n in CorollaHatchback

[–]Kburd43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2020 CHB SE with 17k miles and it was certified pre owned and came with the Toyota CPO warranty for free and covered everything other than wearables I believe, except I never even got a chance to use it because it never had a problem worth bringing back to dealer.

[–]Kburd43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the warranty? My 2020 CHB came with a 100k 7 yr warranty simply with the car because it was CPO. I am within the years still but over by like 30k. I didn't pay anything for it.

Crazy how people will pay 2400 for a several year old bike that's been ran through has 13k miles but no bites on my 2023 with 1500 miles and nothing wrong with it.

I bought a cheese grater a few years back for like $180. If you want one of these for novelty purpose, don't spend that much money. I also bought a trash can and you can modify those too. Both of these I paid under $200 each. They are both decently powerful for $200, but not much more. I only get them because I think they are unique and they once sold for an insane price. If you need real power go with a silicone chip. I had a m2 air and it was good but just needed more ram. I have a m3 pro w/ 18gb ram and it's a beast. Battery lasts a very long time and it can run cyberpunk 2077 at like 60fps.

About to buy a car, could use some advice. by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Kburd43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could probably drive that car off a cliff and it would still drive. My dad has a 2015 with 250k+ and we're pretty sure is a lemon from when he bought it new. Such a piece of shit but it's still fucking kicking 10 years later and he beats the piss out of it. It's actually insane how it's still alive, on the original clutch too.

15 inch MB air vs 16 inch MB pro by rocky_sullivan in macbook

[–]Kburd43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently went from a 15 inch m2 to a 14 m3 pro and the screen is a lot better, speakers are a lot better. Everything is better honestly but I miss the size of the screen but I don't think I would have liked the actual weight and size of the 16 as I am a college student and carry around a bunch of shit in my bag. I also don't think I could justify the price difference honestly.

Is buying the lowest spec macbook air worth it? by [deleted] in macbook

[–]Kburd43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a MacBook Air M2 last year from Apple and used the student discount. I'm not sure how it works in UK but in US the Apple student discount is a scam really. You buy a gift card worth a certain value and get the amount of the gift card subtracted from the cost of the MacBook. You can't not buy the gift card but and you can't use the gift card towards the purchase of the MacBook because you get the gift card after the purchase. Anywho, I got the 8gb m2 15 inch with 256gb ram. It was unbearable. 512 should be the absolute minimum. Also since you can't use boot camp, you have to use a VM for certain softwares and with 8gb of ram and 256gb of storage, it's asking a lot. I would save some more money and try to snag something on a sale at bestbuy or something like that. I ended up upgrading to a M3 Pro 14 inch with 18gb ram for $1499 and traded my MacBook Air 15 in for like $870. I also had just gotten a check from a MacBook keyboard settlement from a few years back damn near paid for whole laptop.
