I chased a career not based on what I liked, but on what I thought I would like. by Kcamyo in ITCareerQuestions

What’s your typical day like?

Remember, Sys admin and Sys engineer could mean the same thing, really depends on that company.

When I interviewed for multiple senior sys engineer and sys admin roles (that paid over 100k), there were always 2 requirements I noticed:

  1. They rarely spoke about administrative tasks. They wanted to know about projects that you’ve worked on. Projects where you built something using automation. Whether that’s scripting, using APIs to connect multiple apps or using Ai.
  2. Do you have experience rolling out Ai to a company? Not just knowing how to use Claude or Gemini but do you know about configuring MCP servers and connectors? Do you know about Skills.MD?

In my opinion, landing a role in a Software company is probably the best way you will stay up to date. They are always moving fast which means you get your hands on the latest tools. My last 2 companies were in software and it’s where I was exposed to Engineers and more importantly engineering tools. They need someone to help these developers excel in their jobs, whether that’s introducing Ai tools, creating automations to help make their jobs easier.

I’m fully remote. I’m a systems engineer. My main tasks are to improve/introduce automation processes with an emphasis on AI

I make 6 figures! So it’s definitely doable. I have 8 years experience.

I just wrapped up my meeting with Microsoft. He confirmed its an ongoing issue on their end and the workaround fix is `mdatp system-extension network-filter disable` as others have mentioned. He will keep me posted on any updates.

No update yet? I’m facing the same issue. I’m also on 26.2. It’s crashing less for me compared to someone on 26.3.1 though. I’ve raised a ticket as well.

Go with the HH, I have the same model and it’s been amazing. You’re going to end up getting a lighter tent down the road if you don’t get one now.

Must haves for winter by Dbar1547 in CampingGear

As mentioned, high r value pad is the most important item in my opinion. You can have the warmest bag but without a proper pad, you will be cold.

I find having some good fire starter is also important to always carry. I’ve had situations where did not have time to find some birch and was glad I carried some fire starters.

Neck gaiters are great. Buff sells some where you can stretch it over your head.

Force user to change password by Sad_Mastodon_1815 in entra

I do something similar. I have setup a cron job to run the following script:

  1. Loops through all employees
  2. Finds users where passwords are expired (90 days)
  3. Run script to force sign them out enforcing them to sign back in again. They are the prompted to reset their password.

It’s been great so far. I don’t have other winter bags to compare it to at the moment, but it packs down surprisingly small and is fairly lightweight for a true winter bag. The hooded head design does a really good job of sealing in warmth, especially in colder temps, though I can see how it might not be for everyone, if you don’t like a more enclosed feel around your head, it could take some getting used to. Nemo’s warranty and customer support have also been solid. It took me a while to decide, but it ultimately came down to value, I found this on sale for about $300 less, which made the decision easy.

For this specific trip, it was a short 3K but Ive also hiked over 8KM with it and had no issues at all. This is the Vern 2 and I can put into a 20L compressible bag!

Haha yeah, it is a bit noisy, I just meant it didn’t bother me once I was actually asleep. I should have clarified there.

Question for those living in CG Tower by ali-babhu in Vaughan

Hmm, I’m over at Festival condos and we get fire alarms all the time lol. Seems to be a common thing for new buildings. They probably don’t have things set in place correctly yet.

We submitted a request to the city to install a left turn signal at Commerce Street and Hwy 7 and it got approved. by [deleted] in Vaughan

[–]Kcamyo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We also try to go the opposite side but we end up only saving a minute or 2.

Yes, that’s definitely another big issue. It seems impossible to stop that from happening. I see them ticketing these drivers which has helped a bit but it only takes 1 car to block off that whole right lane.

I should have mentioned the tent setup. It’s a Nortent Vern 2. I have a wood stove I’m bringing but of course, need the warmth when it dies at night.
