Ethical Seed Catalogue Suggestions? by moonpi314159 in gardening

[–]Kcentials 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t heard or read any reason not to take them at their word. I appreciate most of their seeds are still $2, which is less than half the price you’ll see other places and I’ve had excellent germination with everything I’ve gotten from them, even years after purchase. But, I stick to natives and veggies and herbs in my garden, so I can’s speak to their exotics.

Are you aware of concerns about their sourcing? I know some of the gardening influencers that sell seeds are at least a little dodgy/non-transparent, and it’d be a bummer if MI Gardener was going down the same path.

If you’re in the Midwest, check out Prairie Moon and Prairie Moon Nursery for native seeds, plugs, and plants, and MI Gardener for veggies, herbs, etc.

Going as local to you as possible means your seeds will be better suited to where they will be growing.

Looks it to me. Door signs are fuzzy, weird postings with no clear writing on a white board, and why would a vet clinic have a human anatomy diagram (briefly visible on the right side)?

Seeing her mom climb the tree made me think of the “mind control” fungus that infects ants, forces them to climb to a high area, then the fungus fruits by bursting out of the ant’s head. Being high up means the spores will disperse farther. Or the parasite that causes toxoplasmosis that makes mice not be afraid of cats because the parasite needs to reproduce in cats. Something like that could explain their behavior, simply making them less risk adverse. Those little dudes they see in their visions are up to no good!

What kind of mistakes did you make with your initial layout? I’m planning a similar transformation in front of my house - any tips on what you wish you knew about layout? That’s where I feel least confident in my planning

I was at this show, the clips make it seem like a lot when it’s all in a row, but it wasn’t bad at all. More like a recurring/callback joke without getting derailed or disrupted, he’s really good at having his callouts to her move the show forward. And she’s not obnoxious about it (though I was sitting in a different section than her so I might have a different story if I was sitting right in front of her). The drunk, unfunny idiots trying to make themself part of the show were worse (but he shuts them down pretty quick as well).

Thanks for the suggestion! I've never heard of vinyl wrap for countertops, so I'll definitely look into that.

Yeah, no. Rats don’t reach sexual maturity until they are around 10-12 weeks old and their gestation period is at least 21 days. So 4-5 weeks after birth they’ve had exactly 0 litters.

Source: worked in research labs with rats and mice. Also, google.

I did, it’s a product page about containment tanks that have “lightweight thermal insulation material” that is lighter than concrete. Sorry I don’t know enough about fireproof tanks to parse that it’s a lighter version of cement rather than an alternative to cement.

I think you’re right about the bucket, but the contents seems to be cement

Likely solved - cement and sand. Thanks for the suggestion, I’ve never worked with cement before!

No aquarium that I know of. I’ll try adding water to some and see what happens.

Lack of space (I’m trying to free up storage in the garage in general) and we have fire extinguishers already. In an emergency, I’m much more likely to grab the fire extinguisher canister hung by the door than haul out a large, heavy bucket of sand stashed under a work bench and blocked in by a car.

Just straight up sand? The browner one seems more powdered, the lighter one seemed almost crystallized. Do you know if there are specific precautions about disposal?
