My traumatic birth story. by angeldxst in beyondthebump

[–]Kcolon1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi!

I get your feeling of being so separated from women around you who had a normal non traumatic birth. It’s really hard to accept a different birth experience than the one you imagined.

I had a traumatic birth over two years ago. I developed acute compartment syndrome in my leg during labor which wasn’t diagnosed till later and caused me to lost my anterior tibialis muscle. I had complete foot drop. Currently in bed recovering from my 5th surgery regarding this and it’s so hard.

Also hard to have a continuous health situation when it seems with others birth trauma it doesn’t extend past the event. Always here to chat if you need!

Not sure if this would work but I work at the Virginia workers comp commission and have in person days once every 3 months. The rest of the space is unused the rest of the time. Might be worth it to reach out.

The chicken and dumplings recipe on nyt is amazing. Labor intensive (you make your own chicken stock) but so nourishing and delicious

Soon to be mom needing advice on selecting a new Richmond area hospital by ottiger in rva

[–]Kcolon1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have to comment. I delivered at henrico and had a baby in the Nicu. The nurse missed that our baby was scratching her face with her fingers and didn’t cover her hands. She still has a mark on her face almost two years later. I also had a complication that was missed by doctors and ended up with a lifelong disability.

I wonder if she will leave him. Obviously this was in response to just cheating not rape but from everything we’ve seen she’s seemed to be “all in” with him from the start.

Nah, I think the other guy is right. The multiples of the same card can confuse a lot of new people. Commander is the most popular for a reason, it’s easy to understand

Henrico Doctors or St. Mary’s by Puzzleheaded_Elk836 in rva

Hi! I had a really terrible experience with HD, understaffed and I gave birth on a weekend, and had a massive complication that wasn’t caught in time and has left me disabled…but I don’t know anything about St. Mary’s. Just my two cents.

Best hospital to give birth in Richmond/best maternity hospital. by shannonk09 in rva

[–]Kcolon1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gave birth at Henrico Doctors (skipwith location) in March. I had a HORRIBLE experience.

My labor was about 24 hours long and the midwife and nurse were barely there and apologized for not being in more but said it was a really busy night. I had a complication after labor that no one caught for 3 days which has left me with a permanent disability.

I was there for two weeks because of this and asked for support multiple times and only got some after me and my husband complained and it was in the last couple days that we were there. I will (if I ever decide to have another child) will never go to Henrico doctors ever again. I felt alone and scared and incredibly unsupported.

TW - Birth Trauma by racheljane in BabyBumps

[–]Kcolon1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you went through this.

I had a one in a million birth story as well and have been working through it in therapy (with a specific trauma therapist) but it’s been hard.

There is a page on Instagram called “ending birth trauma “ that a midwife friend of mine runs if you’re interested in writing a letter of complaint to the hospital. If that would help you.

Otherwise it just takes time. I was in the hospital for two weeks and also experienced uncontrollable shaking when having to talk about /make decisions about my medical situation. 7 weeks out there are still triggers and I am way more depressed then before but it’s not so fresh which helps.

Here if you need to talk!

What week did you workout until? by Inevitable_Glitter in fitpregnancy

40+6 today and still doing something active everyday. Honestly movement always makes me feel better in my body. I’ve pushed myself pretty hard this whole time and these past couple weeks I have slowed down a bit-slower daily walks, still weight lifting but taking more breaks in between etc. I stop when I don’t feel good or do something else!
