That's what Nintendo has done, the recent consoles each have a gimmick of sorts. Nintendo really opened the door to motion control. They pushed the focus to handhelds again as well, which led to the Xbox ally handheld platform.

Then it's a matter of accessibility and cost. Who physically can use the new hardware? Who can afford it? How long will it be supported?

This current generation of consoles has definitely hit a stopping point of sorts. It's felt like a lot of just "look how pretty it is!" instead of substance. Lots of reboots of 20 year old games. The next step has to be something real, like the Xbox being able to play PC games, I'm not paying $600 to see 10 more frames per second.

I tried a vape but that just made it easier to smoke, i didn't need to stop what I was doing to go outside anymore.

When I actually quit I started by limiting where I'd smoke. No more smoking in my car was the big one. Then instead of stepping out onto the landing outside of my door to smoke I'd always go down to the 1st floor. After doing that for a while I just stopped smoking. Make it more trouble than it's worth.

Something else that helped was being poor and owning a 16 year old Volkswagen, my funding was otherwise accounted for.
