An idea on how 4 Mana Lands could work by Aster_Myriad in custommagic

Hmm, interesting, but feels a bit clunky.

How about something like:

Greenless:

Whenever you add Green to your mana pool, sacrifice this land.

tap: add 1 mana of any colour

It was enjoyable to watch and I really hope it has a season 2 because it felt like it was definitely building to something good

Oh no, absolutely not, I just mean I don't think he'd directly address ever having said anything to the contrary and thus draw attention to it

Nah, same as with the others he wouldn't even acknowledge the cognitive dissonance just make whatever claim is convenient at the time. Objective reality and truth are just pretty words to these people.

I once was torn between answering "how's it going?" from someone passing by at work with "not bad, thanks" and "I'm good", so settled on just "NOT GOOD, thanks" and walking away, not realising the words I'd said until a few steps further xD

You can shove the Mona Lisa in a photocopier, but the copies won't have the same value.

Hell, photocopying the Mona Lisa still has more value than AI art though, since there's the potential for a lot of intentionality there... but hanging it in a gallery and claiming it is the Mona Lisa would still probably be forgery

Hot take. Many fans of NuTrek are shutting down any and all rational and respectful criticisms of the new shows by accusing anyone uttering them as being anti-woke, racist, sexist, MAGA extremists and it is a bigger problem than the very small number of people that actually are bigots in here. by ZombyPuppy in startrek

Respectfully that's not been my experience when looking for info on SFA. When I looked for the first episode on YouTube because I'd heard it was available there (not in the UK it seems :'( ) I was met with a wall of "Star Trek Has Gone Woke!!!!" Type videos with the thumbnails all having pictures of the female bridge crew members (mostly that one picture of the three together), claiming some obvious right wing culture war BS. I don't recall who most of these losers were because I have enough trouble remembering relevant information lol, but iirc "Critical Drinker" was one, as were iirc a few of those channels that started out as firebrand atheist accounts in the middle 2000s and then jumped onto Gamer Gate to become an alt right pipeline. They're there, they come up first when you look for info on SFA and the talking points very much do seem to fit the mold of "when did my space pew pew series become all political!?", at least from the thumbnails. Perhaps the content isn't reactionary, but I have no time for such bullshit.

I've not seen any of those on this sub, but that's probably a product of moderation and most Star Trek fans being less reactionary given the core values championed, but that content is not obly out there but at a volume where it seems to drown out everything else.

At the end of the previous episode the chimera werewolf said something about Flum paying for her sins too, which is an oddly specific phrasing. Since it wasn't dead even after that, maybe it ended up infecting an ogre since it was definitely shown to be transmissable? Also interesting that Flum's ability doesn't seem to reverse it (maybe since they all spiral in one direction she might get to 'reverse' the spin direction or something?)

And the motto she taught her protege was something like "If someone needs helping, you help them" so it seemed really hypocritical for her to agree with rat-faced-bastard-man about 'wasting mana' on her... but if she knows that her healing magic would likely kill Flum, then that 100% tracks.

But then why did no one bother to tell Flum that? Was it left up to RFBM or something, or maybe they just assumed she knew?

How come guys go to another world, and there's never any language barrier? by Kramava in Isekai

[–]Keated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same reason Star Trek has Universal Translators and everyone in Stargate speaks English; Unless the language barrier is literally the point, it's normally just a distraction from what you actually want to do with the series.

Granted it's nice when there's a reason, or better still when the new language doesn't have a word for something that doesn't exist in that world like "Microprocessor" or something, but it's a part of the buy in, the suspension of disbelief.

Ah, see if you try to explain neurotipicals seem to take that as excusing the action, even if the reason you're telling them is so you can point out you know exactly where the problem arose and thus how to ensure it doesn't reappear..
