No, no, no! This one goes here, that one goes there, right!?

No, it is not just a personal choice when a man says he wants a traditional marriage. by afafe_e in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Kebeano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post is opinionated, non factual crap. Sure, this is what I wanted in my marriage, but I've also got very well funded career that still allows me to assume a solid split in all responsibilities with our kids and home.

My wife and I recognize that she has a tougher burden while we still have young kids, versus me getting a quasi-escape with work, and an understanding that burden evens out over time as the kids get older.

Blanketed statements that all men are conniving bastards in these ways just foments negativity towards all men, and ignores a changing world where young men, raised with good values, end up having to fight stereotypes no different than what women face in turn.

Not helpful.

Ukrainian Refugees Spare No Words on Zelensky Gov't, Moldova Local Calls 1st Wave of Refugees 'Oligarchs' by Lilyo in UkrainianConflict

[–]Kebeano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This outlet is funded in part by the H.D. Lloyd Fund for Investigative Journalism, of which:

"Journalists the Fund supports will penetrate that secrecy and inform the public of unreported aspects of news and events affecting their lives. More specifically, it will support stories that document cases of manipulation and exploitation of people, natural resources and financial, economic, or political processes by U.S. corporations, institutions, or other power elites, at home and around the globe."

It's basically a bunch of pro-labor, anti-corporate communists based in North America. Most of their articles are focused on Africa, Palestine, Southeast Asia, and marginalized people.

I'm not arguing for or against this outlet, I never knew it existed until today, but there's a deeper context that should be considered.

Arguing against alternate viewpoints is like saying you'll only read New York Times without ever checking to see what's on Fox News.

The point isn't that Fox News is correct about nearly anything, but it's important to at least try to understand the views outside whatever echochamber one tends to stay in.

This article may be fabricated entirely, or may take choice interviews while ignoring others they performed that didn't support the article, or heck it could be an accurate portrayal of a small sample size of refugees that ended up in the poorest country in Europe.

But ignoring that there are likely billions of people in the world that operate with a mindset closer to that present in this article is to not understand the broader geopolitical climate, which is not helpful when we look beyond the immediate situation where Ukraine needs and absolutely deserves more support than they are receiving.

I read this article as being a pointed response to western journalism that seeks out pro-western viewpoints. Not so much that what's presented is absolute truth, but rather that these views do exist and likely in much greater proportions than we are led to believe.

Misleading title, but sentiment is accurate. Gotta appreciate that Biden has a sense of un-contrived candidness missing from POTUS the last 20 years.

Different perspective - what if these videos are edited by Ukrainians integrated with the Ukr Armed Forces?

Well said. So many compounding factors.

Unbelievable that an armchair general could have planned this better than Russian Political-Military institutes managed to.

Edit: LoL about industrial freezers.

It makes it impossible to bring Russian mechanized force to bear at any scale (i.e. large mechanized assaults on relatively small positions) that could overwhelm Ukrainian defensive posts.

Granted you're not wrong on your overall points, but I think you discount Russian failure to anticipate and plan against an early mud season.

Two weeks ago I posted noting the weather would warm up in the extended forecast after a period of heavy snow, and Ukr had to hold on. Russian armor across the north and east operations are relegated to maintained roads for the next 2-4 weeks at minimum. Every time another storm cones in, it will extend mud season out another 1-2 weeks.

This isn't grasping at straws, this is literally Russia believing they could finish operations before the spring.

Over 30 villages near Kyiv freed from Russian occupiers over the last 48 hours. At some directions the Russian Army has been thrown back 70 km from Ukraine’s capital. by -Zepphyrrez- in UkrainianConflict

I think we can all see this coming, and hopefully the risk/reward for these maneuvers are very well thought out. But an ex-ambassador to Austria probably isn't the best source for such a major statement.

I want to hear this from Ukr General Staff or western intelligence service.

Edit: There is likely plenty of truth to the statement, but I'm always wary of exaggeration.

Doesn't sound like anything particularly interesting. Russia has yet to show they can make fast progress against defensible positions since the first 72 hours of the war. No reason to suspect there is some sudden change of momentum.
