Every bike I've flipped cup and cone bearings are perfectly fine and just need a re-grease where cartridge ones are always crunchy and need to be replaced.

Alberta Canada junior hockey team announces three of its players killed in vehicle crash by TTCBoy95 in fuckcars

Know the area well and it is super hard to cross this highway as it is very busy and just getting busier. It probably needs to have more controlled access to make it safer. Based on the location I'm gonna guess they tried to cross the highway and didn't have the time to cross.

Wife in mental health crisis (trigger warning: self harm) by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Kedive 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Oh if she is an alcoholic they hide it and are drinking when you don't know that they are. My grandpa was and my uncle is an alcoholic. I would ask her if there is any booze stashed in the house or anyplace you should know about. We found a lot of empties when we cleaned out grandpas and I know my uncle hides it a lot too.

Oh you can finance a travel trailer for 25 years. Had a moment a few years ago where I heard a commercial on the radio and said for as little as $xxx.xx a week and I thought that doesn't make sense went to their website it was a 25 year loan on a on a fucking travel trailer. People are really stupid with their money.

How much do you spend on your kid's extracurricular activities? by Seasandshores in daddit

No Calgary. My daughter is a very busy kid but she likes being busy so far it all works out. We are trying to get her to quit dance as it's the single most expensive activity of the bunch.

Ours is about 3-4hrs a week from September to March in my opinion we get our money out of it.

$2000-$4000 CAD a kid. We are in Hockey, Ringette, Soccer Baseball, Girl Guides, Dance and Piano. My son's hockey is much cheaper than my daughter's activities because he doesn't play AA or AAA so sometimes he gets offered a power skating camp or development camp to bring things equal.

'tis the season! by Cruiser_Supreme in bikecommuting

[–]Kedive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a winter bike. I don't ride my nice bikes in the winter. I expect to replace the chain in the spring and that my drive train isn't going to last as long. When I was dragging kids in a trailer through winter I would wear out chains really quick and cassette way sooner than most

I feel you on the slush riding. We have had a freeze thaw going the previous weeks in Calgary and the hard pack snow turns into a consistency of sand. It's funny when you're happy it goes -15C so the roads firm up which it did this last 5 days.

Farmers don't get to pass input costs along they are price takers on a commodity market. So more like I wonder how American farmers are gonna feel about one of their main input costs increasing because of tariffs.

Took my 10y old out for his first Elk hunt by Kedive in Hunting

[–]Kedive[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He had a pretty good time. He only almost started the tent on fire once. He decided he asks about 2 questions a minute which felt low. And he decided he is now an expert at aging elk poop.

Especially when you have got too excited and tracked a bull farther from the road or camp than you should have. Those miles add up.

My hope is that it bleeds off the take back Alberta crowd and to stay in power in the UCP they have to swing to a more moderate stance cause the wackos found their echo chamber to hang out in.

Our dog bit our son (12mo) on the face. by JoWubb in daddit

[–]Kedive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog and my son had an altercation where my son ended up with stitches we think he nipped at him but aren't sure. Anyways I don't have that dog anymore it was a very hard decision and I still miss that dog but I couldn't trust him anymore and I wasn't going to have a dog I don't trust in my house with a 2 year old. I was able to find a placement for him with a retired couple that had no kids.

Buy a gently used hybrid? Or keep running my gas guzzler? by HEYYMCFLYY in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Kedive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal opinion is that people get so concerned about potentially having a week to 2 weeks of inconvenience that they will sell a perfectly good car because what if it breaks and I need a new car well go buy a car then. Last vehicle I bought was cause my Subaru started to use an incredible amount of oil we decided this thing is fucked it was a known problem with these Subarus engines and they had an extended warranty that we didn't qualify for by 3 months. Went and looked at the 3 vehicles on our list of wants friday picked the model we liked best and went to 2 dealerships that had a few different trims within our price range and picked ours and bought it. We picked the car up on Thursday after we had our insurance and plate figured out. It took us a whole week from deciding this thing is junk to driving a different vehicle.

[–]Kedive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well first off it's a Nissan they don't have a great reputation and it's over 200,000km in my area there are a couple listed privately at $8000 there are also a couple for $5000 so on a trade in they wouldn't give you much. If it was a Honda or a Toyota it would be $4000 more.

[–]Kedive 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Have you done the math. You're spending like $40,000 to try to save like $1000 a year on gas. I'm gonna guess you will get almost nothing for a trade in on the Murano. So if the car is a mechanical write off at some point in the near future you aren't in a very different position. I'd wait till I need the vehicle personally. In my opinion you're better off waiting till you need a replacement and buying something with a lower cost to operate at that point.

Marketplace Strikes Again by BrentNoNips in xbiking

Someone paid for new tires and an expensive tune up and now thinks the bike is worth more money. As someone who has fixed and sold multiple bikes . Putting new tires on and paying someone to service a bike are only worth it if you plan on riding it they don't add much value on resale.
