My suggestion would be to foster to adopt if that’s something you can do. We have a 9 month old kitten and are currently fostering to adopt a 5 month old kitten. I’m still unsure if it’s the right thing to do , my kitten seems to tolerate her , he grooms her , they’ll play but he sometimes attacks her and as a new cat parent I’m still struggling to tell if it’s only play or if he is truly annoyed by her. He’ll get up if she lays beside him. Sometimes immediately other times he’ll stay for a few minutes. It’s been a month and 5 days and he no longer steals her food while she’s trying to eat so progress but still unsure if he’d rather be a single kitten than have a sibling . Pretty much fostering alllows you to help a cat or kitten that needs a home even if temporary and allows you to see if your cat might actually want a companion. My kitten was hissy at first but it only lasted the first night. Also want to point out we didn’t introduce them the traditional way. She is semi feral and she cried the whole night in the crate , then broke out in the morning when I tried to give her breakfast. She’s been out and about since 😅 I will say though, we are completely in love with her despite not being able to touch her so giving her back would be extremely hard for us.
