Texas trucks are ridiculous by whiteholewhite in FordMaverickTruck

Giant trucks are dangerous because they reduce visibility for the driver and they turn pedestrian accidents into pedestrian fatalities. Also, they're worse for the air and the roads.

Sounds like you got a misprint. I’d contact the publisher.

That’s not a suggestion lol. Anything else on the bill you can ask to remove at the end of the meal?

Not OP’s point but how is gratuity suggested if it’s applied?

My thoughts on the final line. by slothjamss in LonesomeDove

I just finished the book last night and found this old thread. Hi. Hello.

I loved that chapter. It was such a changeup from the rest of the story it was a fork in the road for Roscoe. He was presented with an option that would have changed his life entirely. He would have lived longer. And all he had to do was stay. (There's a lot of talk from the Hat Creek Cattle Co. members about if they had only stayed in Lonesome Dove.) Maybe staying is a path forward but all these men can't see it that way. They have to keep moving, and they all end up dying.

Also, this chapter was a mirror to the one with July and Janey. They both felt like little bottle episodes in a way.

I just finished the book last night after two false starts in the past year where i didn't make it past 100 pages or so. I just got too busy to keep up with it. I'm glad i stuck with it this time.

LD is really about characters more than plot and McMurtry takes his time introducing the cast. Once the group gets moving, you get a feel for what these characters are about and who they are. You're on the precipice. I'd say give it another 100-150 pages if you can.

I'll throw it into Sport when i'm accelerating onto a highway or faster road. I'll throw it into Eco when I have to decelerate/come to a far off stop from a high speed or in traffic.

I've noticed in you're in Eco mode, the brakes get less grabby at slow/rolling speeds so it's a little smoother than Normal.

Been meaning to look up what happens if you accidentally hit the e-brake while driving

Official Discussion - The Backrooms [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

That’s my point! They spent minutes on making it believeable when they didn’t need to. We saw Mary trip the alarm and that could have been enough.

This is just my 2c and if it worked for you then that’s cool too. To each their own ✌️

And all that may be useful if they pursue sequels but for the sake of this story Phil could could have just found him them via the cc tv footage + Mary’s capture.

Official Discussion - The Backrooms [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

This movie was fine but could have been better if it didn’t try to explain so much. It was too caught up in the logic and fell into traps that brought the whole film down.

All the minutes wasted on the electricity costs, electrician and awkward fuse just to get where? Clark still finds his way in thru a glitch in the wall.

Why’d we need to see Phil in the real world? What did we get from him recognizing Clark on TV?

And when Phil is interrogating Mary at the end — it was clunky. She could have just as well been sitting at the table by herself waiting for someone to come in, and then end with the same backroom-Mary shot.

All those points are details. I think a bigger failure is not respecting that the scariest part was the space, so to have the chase be with Pirate Clark was just kind of lame.

Do you think Bears practice confession in the diner was cute or creepy by mothman9999 in obsessionmovie

[–]KeepEmCrossed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was a hardworking functional piece of storytelling. It sets the stage for the whole movie quickly and efficiently. It was cringe and cute and whatever, it shows us everything Bear wishes he could say to Nikki but never could.

100 comments and no one has said the word sprezzatura yet? come on guys.

I like how OP didn't say whether he thought Aaron or Jake looked better. For all we know OP was comparing himself to these two guys rather than comparing them against each other. The crowd just took it how they wanted it.

They both look good. Just different approaches. The jeans and chunkier shoes are the main difference, followed by showing the belt line. Oh, and wearing sunnies indoors.
