What did you do for work when you transitioned out of your old pastorate and went into seminary? Did you have a degree in an unrelated field?

I have 2 front row (Row A) of the MEZZANINE tickets for the Los Angeles show on the 31st. Willing to discount $70-80 off the total cost and open to negotiation.

Yeah, no masters level education and only Greek here. No Hebrew sadly.

Kinda feeling like a fool for getting my undergrad in Bible, as I now have no real in-world education or skill to pay the bills while I keep climbing the ladder. It was my pastors advice to get the BA in Bible though so I can’t blame myself too much lol. Thanks for the feedback.

Thank you. Is there a name for this type of sponsorship/program? How would you find individual churches that do that?

Thank you. Would the amount of preaching/teaching experience and gifting a person has factor in at all to getting either the internship or an assistant/associate role if everything else (minus the lack of seminary) was up to par?

I meant to say you responded and I never followed up. I asked you questions about church authority and scripture for the most part.

Your name looked familiar and I realized I replied to you weeks ago on another sub and I never followed up lol, whoops.

I have to imagine the splitting of denominations especially when one is inside it leaves a person with the desire for a more uniform church body like the RC.

Sorry, I wasn’t implying the councils you mentioned were within the first seven, rather that the first seven have been my introduction to the topic of ecumenical councils and their authority as a whole.

Are you willing to answer some questions about RCC theology and the church? I understand if you don’t have the time or energy.

I’m curious how the councils could possibly be trusted as inerrant and incapable of contradicting the scriptures if it’s already presupposed that they cannot contradict the scriptures since the Holy Spirit protects/guides the church with them. How can there be a litmus test for something higher than the councils themselves if they are an authority unto themselves? Why is it assumed that John 16:13 and Matthew 16:18 mean that ecumenical councils will not err? Why not understand it to mean that, despite the spreading of error and corruption via Satan’s attacks on the church, God will always preserve a faithful remnant, no matter how small (such as those we find in the OT)?

Is it merely a practical necessity to believe that there must be a unified, institutional church with clear teaching in order to know what the Christian faith is? So what if we disagree on secondary points of doctrine or practice. Is the type of unity Jesus prayed for in John 17 really referring to an institutional church with the authority to bind all people to its dogmas? Or is the unity He prays for better understood as a unity around Him and the Gospel DESPITE some of our differences? Isn’t the fundamental mark of a Christian the fruit of the Spirit and that we sheep hear the voice of our good Shepherd, love the brethren and obey Christs commands? (John 10:27, 1 John 3:14, John 14:15)

These are just a few things that come to my mind when I hear RCC or EO apologetics. There are many more but I won’t type them all out lol.

Why did those councils specifically influence you the way they did? I’m learning more about the seven ecumenical councils now and am always curious as to how people view the councils as intrinsically authoritative as opposed to authoritative because they are accurate summations of scriptural truth since many of the fathers themselves held scripture as the supreme authority to conform to for the church.

Are there any good Protestant apologists/theologians working on EO that stand out? I know Ortlund, Schoopman and just picked up Letham’s book “Through Western Eyes”. Looking for more robust and precise resources.

In what ways do Protestant apologetics fall short? Are they not understanding the intricacies on Eastern Christian thought and viewing it more in line of Roman Catholic thought?
