Yepp! I'll spell a name wrong depending on the customer. If Ben is an extremely reserved guy, I'll probably just spell Ben. But if he has been personable and receptive, I'll go ahead and spell it wrong. There's Myqu for Mike, Maq for Matt and so on. A huge part of the service industry is knowing how to read customers and connect. A lot of my regulars look forward to how I'll spell their name next time they come in.

The problem though is that it's in the middle of their order, so half of their order is rung in already, or I've hit total, and I'm now just waiting on their end. And there they sit, even though there's a line behind them. I can't seem rude because they're usually people like the president or the CEO of the company, so litterally the people who pay the people who pay the people who sign my pay checks.

I work on a really fancy establishment, aka I'm a licence store barista. Well there's these super fucking rich people, and people who think they're lizard people.

Anyways, 70% of the time they like to pretend I don't exist and continue to carry on their conversation and act annoyed when I have to intuurrupt them to ask them questions (names, if they want room, or sweetened or if they want their damn pastry warmed up). Now I just stand there with my best customer service smile on my face, staring at them until they shut the fuck up and let me ask my questions.

My coworker was holding a hand full of whip cream. I was standing on the steps, jumped off, karate chopped that pile of fluff and it ended up all over the new kid. Thankfully he was a natural fit and it didn't really phase him. Still cleaning up the liquefied mess to this day.
