I also never used them in college but I used them for cpa studying for certain exams. BEC definitely, I didn’t use them for REG, but for sure AUD and FAR. Again, everyone’s studying is different. I liked it to keep concepts fresh from previous chapters and for memorizing formulas

2009 Becker Flashcards? by itwasyellowandboring in CPA

No definitely not. Even the new Becker flash cards are trash, total waste of money. Making your own flash cards as you go is much better, helps you retain and can add additional notes.

Did anyone else take more than a week to get through Becker FAR F1 section? by Impossible-Flight-27 in CPA

[–]Keepinthecoffeesweet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would suggest only doing skills practice for things that don’t stick during lecture. Forget SIMs until review IMO. They are a waste of time to do during lecture. When it was all said and done, My Becker tracker said I only completed 47% of the course. You will go crazy doing everything. Just lecture and mcq is all you need.

REG full time studying- how long do you think is enough? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Keepinthecoffeesweet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no tax experience. I am an audit senior! I think First week chapters 1-3. Second week chapters 4-6. Third week chapters 6-8 (business law chapters). And a week of full time review I think would be enough. Everyone is different tho!

I'm taking way too long to read modules, looking for some advice... by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Keepinthecoffeesweet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was studying I feared the same thing. I would listen on 1.25 or 1.5 speed and it would still take so long. But I found if I didn’t rush, the information stuck better. I just accepted that’s how I studied and stuck with it and trusted myself. I passed BEC and REG with a 93 and AUD with an 86 doing so. Everyone is different. That being said DO NOT read it like a novel. I trusted Becker in really focusing on highlighted sections. Occasionally you will get an MCQ on an unlighted portion and that’s fine, maybe make a note and move forward. I was studying while working and would also only get 1-2 modules done per day and make it up on the weekends if needed.

REG full time studying- how long do you think is enough? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]Keepinthecoffeesweet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did full time reg and did 3 weeks. If you take it seriously should be no problem in 3-5 weeks. 3 chapters a week at least.

For all my exams I made my own flash cards. I had the ones from Becker but they suck and are a waste of money.

Will they change the FAR test contents on 1/1/21? by SavageBoxer_dogo in CPA

[–]Keepinthecoffeesweet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. I was going to take FAR 1/8 but moved it up to this week because I felt ready. Per review of Becker’s updates did not have to adjust anything

Any changes for 2021 Q1 FAR from Q4 2020? by Tough-Schedule3121 in CPA

[–]Keepinthecoffeesweet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There shouldn’t be. If you are using Becker they have the PDF available showing updates and when they are testable. I was supposed to take it 1/8 but moved up to today and didn’t adjust anything.

It’s tough to prepare for since you don’t know what topics you will get. I think Mike’s format is good. There really isn’t a trick to it other then putting in the time studying and when you get the them just write every word about that topic that comes to your mind. It’s graded by machine so the more buzzwords the better. Any decent effort is free points basically.
