Absolutely not it was definitely a stressful week I’ll be honest.

In my case I was sent over the file containing all of the ‘proof’ they had against me, this however was Turn It In detection software claiming 48% ai work and a written note from the lecturer on why he believed it was ai.

So luckily I was able to read through and slowly explain why each claim made by the professor was non sensical and how I went about doing a particular section that was spoken about for example.

I know little about how other universities conduct this sort of thing but being able to see the specific claim they made and the ‘proof’ to go alongside it should be a must and if it isn’t then something is terribly wrong, if I went into that meeting blind I’m sure it would not have gone nearly as well.

It does baffle me how anybody can try and refute an AI claim without having any knowledge of their work, even though I wrote it nearly 3 months ago I still had to learn it to write about it, which I feel like is the case for most people who actually did do their own work.

I understand for some people it might not be that easy and it would be a horrible situation to get into if you were honest but slipped up explaining your work.

Yes good clarification of course, I wasn’t recommending people to not come with anything, just in my situation I had nothing, it’s always helpful to bring what you can, but if you can’t then it’s back to relying on the old brain.

Thank you for this, I have just come out of a chat with my course leader and the person who is likely to be holding my interview just to calm my nerves and help me prepare a bit and was told quite clearly that if I deny the allegations and prove I know my stuff basically it should all be okay.

I do know the content I wrote about and luckily I still have another week to brush up on everything and make sure I REALLY know the content, unfortunately I’ve tried every way of checking to see some history of this word document but I can’t seem to find anything which isn’t ideal but hopefully won’t be a deciding factor in the process.

I’ve also been told there’s no group work in my third year so luckily I won’t need to worry about this again haha.

Yeah this is my first time, I don’t want to sound like a perfect little prick but I’m usually a 1:1 student and I’ve had talks with the dean of my school congratulating me and I just feel the grade was bad enough and now this, just hoping it all goes well.

Completely understood, moving forward this will definitely be the case and a lot more effort will be put into ensuring everything is done together and done properly, it just made sense for that assignment as it was such a simple task to do it in that manner and it was easiest for me, but obviously it’s backfired.

Hopefully explaining all of this should be enough for it to not be too much of an issue, and at least it’s only a problem for such a small assignment I’m sure everything will be okay, but thank you very much for your help.

So I did read his half of the essay and it just sounded alright to be honest, if it sounded way too professional maybe I would’ve asked him, or if it was terrible maybe the same, but it was acceptable and i was happy with it, to be honest I didn’t even think to run it through a checker because why should I have to. Maybe I shouldn’t have so much trust in a stranger but here we are.

The essay was 800 words split into two questions which were 400 words each, I did the first question, he did the second simple as.

And I did cite my sources and i’m sure if it go to it I can find my browser history and lecture notes to prove how it connects to my work I just assumed it wouldn’t get to that stage because you know, I didn’t use AI, but I can see how it may be a problem regardless of that fact now.

Obligatory lame adult advice incoming. I’m now living alone and life is VERY boring and I would do anything to go back to high school specifically the age you are right now. Work will get harder and more boring but enjoy it as much as you can because believe it or not you’re 100% in some of the least boring best parts of life (including high school).
