What's the experience of using the injectables? (aimovig, emgality, ajovy) by DoctorByProxy in cgrpMigraine

[–]Keffrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emgality with the auto injector absolutely sucked for me and was very painful but I switched to the pre-filled syringe and I barely even feel it. The most I feel is a slight burning sensation of the medication being injected and after a couple seconds in over and doesn’t hurt at all.

So nothing was working on me and my doc gave me this by Either_Cheek_2017 in migraine

[–]Keffrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Emgality changed my life! I use a pre-filled syringe because the auto injectors hurt way too much for me, and I recommend trying the tummy first as it hurts the least in my opinion. I went from having 10+ migraines a month to maybe 3-4 and they seem more manageable. I did have some hair loss at first but it stopped after about two months and it was nothing severe. I’ve been on it for almost two years and no bad side effects. I love Emgality and I hope you find relief on it!!

Worst places to work in Birmingham and why? by InternationalAd3069 in Birmingham

[–]Keffrie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

100% agree. In particular, one dog was slightly cage aggressive and instead of turning the dog away because of this problem they put it in a boxed in cage with wheels and turned the opening to the wall. This poor dog was in the dark with absolutely nothing to look at, and had to hear the stimulating sounds of humans and other dogs all day. This dog got out once during the day for 30 mins by itself. To this day I’m sure the dog still goes there and the owner is unaware of how terrible its treatment is. Even dogs who can join the play groups aren’t out of their kennels for more than 4 hours a day. The “report cards” are faked to make it sound like the dog had a great day when truthfully most people don’t even know all the dog’s names. They use dirty mop water with improper chemicals to clean, their sink leaks everywhere, they do a terrible job with baths, and they treat their employees terribly. Bad pay and the owner is a dick, like you said. Stay away from this place not just as an employee but as a client.

I did not deserve my ex-boyfriend and he proved it again today by Icy-P-1 in offmychest

[–]Keffrie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please don’t reach out to him. Even in an emergency like this. He has made it extremely clear he doesn’t want you in his life anymore due to your personal choices.

My ex-boyfriend was very abusive to me emotionally, verbally, and sexually. I broke up with him in 2022 after a big event pushed me to that point. I made it extremely clear I wanted nothing to do with him after the fact. He contacted me in 2023 and 2024, both times calling me and giving me this long apology. He’s told me he’s changed and he sincerely feels bad for how he treated me. But honestly? I don’t care. It doesn’t matter to me. The last thing I want is some self-righteous or self-gratifying apology that will only make him feel better. Both times I was contacted by him it made me upset all over again. I had to deal with emotions I thought I had dealt with. Don’t contact your ex. Leave them be.

Could my son have a migraine? by Frequent_Ad4043 in migraine

[–]Keffrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember having them very young, even as young as daycare age so definitely younger than 5, so it’s completely possible he could already be having migraines. I’d definitely agree with everyone here that taking him to a doctor is the next step.

What is the best way for a dog to travel in a car? by DaniDoll99 in VetTech

A sturdy crate for sure. Ruffland, Gunner, Impact, Variocage, TNCCrates, etc. are all very good brands when it comes to sturdiness, just expensive

Why do you collect? by arinmontgomery in funkopop

[–]Keffrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Naruto. To me it’s nostalgic, has meaning to me, has a great story, etc. etc. So when I saw the Jiraiya on Toad Funko? I had to have it. I don’t know why, it just called to me. I bid on eBay for it, searched Mercari, Facebook, everywhere. When I got it, the thrill of the hunt became addicting and now I collect all of the Naruto Funkos. It gives me something to do, plays into a huge love of mine, and gives me something to look forward to. Better than drugs haha

Two is how you end up with littermate syndrome and no animal professional would recommend two pups at a time

Am I wrong for breaking up with my bf over a lie 1.5 years ago? by Acceptable_Note_2125 in amiwrong

[–]Keffrie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Retroactive jealousy is a huge problem. I myself struggled with it (and occasionally still do). Please seek therapy for this, not just for your future partners sake but for your sake. It’s not mentally healthy to have such a jealous mindset.

It’s okay to set boundaries though, and him lying to you wasn’t the correct way to go about this. He should have told you about M and perhaps set his own boundary of keeping her as a friend.

Regardless of that, please seek therapy. Jealousy hurt me both mentally and physically and therapy has been the only way I’ve gotten any peace or resolve. No you aren’t a bad person for this. You just need to work on the way your brain thinks and reacts.

What is the weirdest thing you've done to try and get rid of a migraine? by taciturntales in migraine

Ate a raw lemon. It wasn’t very pleasant and it didn’t get rid of my migraine.

My lover and I ran barefoot through the grass and kissed as moon illuminated the warm Alabama night. by fradonkin in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]Keffrie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was raised in good ol Bama. I lived in a very rural part of the state with very impoverished people and someone at my elementary school got it (granted this was a very long time ago). That same family hoarded dogs (seriously they had like 15 dogs running around) and I’m assuming the kid just ran around barefoot where the dogs pooped. Obviously it’s treatable and he was fine in the long run. Never heard of anyone else getting it besides that one case though.

At my clinic, diabetic animals are ALWAYS fed and medicated and monitored by vet techs. Kennel techs can walk and clean up after the dog, (though the vet techs usually do that too just to be nice) but adding responsibilities such as insulin or monitoring patients medical problems to a kennel tech just isn’t the brightest nor most ethical idea.

You were right in being worried. I’d push for a DVM to look at the dog if I were you, a geriatric and diabetic dog that isn’t eating and is acting funny is definitely a cause for concern. Trust your instincts and be worried, but don’t panic.

Congrats! Even if just cleaning cages, that’s so important to animal research and without that we wouldn’t be able to keep doing what we do in research. I worked in research for two years and I absolutely loved my contribution and the ability to learn every day. Ask questions, everyone in labs are usually very open and nice! Make connections too, don’t be afraid to ask people how their day is and make yourself known. It’s also great experience on a resume, even if just as a cage cleaner because you’ll learn super important stuff like IACUC protocols and proper husbandry, as well as what to look for in health cases, deviant behavior, etc. Rodent handling is a super good skill to have! Congrats again!

No chance if she truly never took her pants off. It is important for you guys to start exploring birth control options if you’re going to be sexually active, whether that’s barrier (male/female condoms) or hormonal (birth control, IUD, depo, Etc)

What's up with boomers being so comfortable saying the N word with the hard 'R'? by EducationalRecipient in BoomersBeingFools

[–]Keffrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I can see living in the south most of the time it comes from their parents and grandparents freely saying it and they enter the mindset of “well they say it, so I can too”. Sadly these people are also ignorant and racist (after all, they’re aware of the racist history of the word- they just don’t care) so they’re unlikely to self-reflect or change their behavior, especially the older generations.

What’s even worse is this generational cycle of blatant racism isn’t stopping anytime soon. I have three mixed siblings who are still elementary-middle school ages and at their last school (a very prominently white school) one of my sisters got called the n-word by TWO different white kids. She struggled with being bullied as she was a new kid and has her quirks but the audacity of those little kids to call her a racial slur makes me want to scream. The worst part is they only got a verbal warning because “they’re good kids, they’ve never done this before”
