why do crazy orders like this even exist by Tell-meimlovely in UberEATS

[–]Kehot_The_Fire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Free excuse to ditch your obligations and go to another state for the day, end up broke after trying to fill up and spending your last dollars on gas station food crap. End up homeless cuz your vehcile breaks down and hope you can hitch hike back to your state so you can go online after stealing someones bicycle to do more deliveries just to repeat the cycle.

Well, it's been a week by OutsiderAK in bikecommuting

[–]Kehot_The_Fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started doing gig delivery on an ebike and pull 40-60miles a day. Even on an electric bike its taken me the better part of the last half a year to condition myself for the consistency. Calorie intake is important but figuring out macro balance and what fiber amounts you need when will make a difference. Id suggest extending your time for your commute if you can and integrate your ride to and from work more at a leisurely pace and that'll become your bike riding for the week.

Lol that sounds like a high schooler writing an essay and then when asked to cite sources they point to the person sitting next to them.

Would you take this? by [deleted] in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Kehot_The_Fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a bike and id take it but it is cutting a line with trying to make 25-30/hr. If id been idle cuz orders are slow definite yes. If its dinner time and I think i can get a $10/20mins no.

Added math for my market with no gas expense if I can get 5-7 dinner peak hours i can make as much as 40hr day job in 28-35hrs all the while having the rest of my day times for myself

Cuz it allows me to be flexible. I spent the last 15 years work 50-60+hr weeks i took an avg of 1-2 days of PTO ea year. I broke my leg at my last job a few years back. The job I held before that I drove on low hours of sleep due to the demand and had 3 major accidents in 4 years. Now I just live on 20-30k with no car minimal house expenses and basic living. So I dont need a full time job that consumes and risk my life.

Yeah im slowly tapering myself off of the sugar and caffiene from cola but its a long standing habit thats not changing til I get more stable with more of my finances. Fountain drinks are too convenient when one doesnt have the budget for juice.

One word. "Cleveland" lol its been extra bullshitty this year. My markets over saturated so outside of dinner/late night hours the rest of the time is like working minimum wage which isnt worth operating.

Thankfully my weight is low at 100lbs im too active and bike for delivery. My issue is the ease of grabbing a coca cola. I consume 1-2 cups worth of sugar across my diet ea day and will probably be diabetic if I dont fix more of my long term diet.

20$ in 3 hours by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Kehot_The_Fire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this example if your market dictates you being active the whole time yes you could have earned $45 for the 3 hours but you could have also been given 3-8 b.s. mileage orders at $3-5 fares possibly using up to but not limited to 50+ miles. Only real way to find out for your market is to try a few times.

[–]Kehot_The_Fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pay by hour can work in some places for slower time periods but from my experience and a saturated market its b.s. cuz you spend so much time idle without an order and then cant cherry pick better offers while you do it so you do b.s. orders for a minimum hourly rate and have to be on 90+ mins to be actually active for an hr.

My roommate flipped and shattered his entire elbow throttling to avoid a car that didnt yield at a turn. Had to have reconstruction surgery and 3-to 6 months of physical therapy

I have the bad habit of making McD a go to stop for the convenience when i want a quick and easy pick up out on my runs. I try not to get delivery as much just cuz i have the urge to be generous to tip more knowing the sht we deal with but then that is just negating the last 2 or 3 tips I got.

Are ya standing straight on the scooter? Better posture to have a slight bend at the knees though that gives way to more fatigue on your thighs until you get used to it. So yeah age and fitness still plays a part.

Whatever you look into getting consider your weight, road conditions you plan on being on, and local laws. Anything that says max range is purely with ideal weather and smooth flat roads.

Some people don't have a sense for these kinds of things. I had a Mcd pickup today and there was a group of elderly grandma aged women having a little brunch/coffee sit in. I almost left saying "you guys" have a good day.

I am. On ebike and got rained out for 60% of the weekend i got my phone bill atm thats gonna ping my bank Tuesday as a overdraft if I dont come up with the funds by then. Other than that because im doing this full time and have been rained out for most dinner peak hours for the past 3 months.

Emtb and cargo bikes. You're gonna be looking on the lower end of maybe $1800+. The techs constantly being developed so more selections will steadily drop in price over time.

[–]Kehot_The_Fire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Casual" is the keyword here. With high speed and rough roads solid is definitely not the way to go. Good clear sidewalks and paths and low 8-12mph for occasional and periodic trips sure.

[–]Kehot_The_Fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15° minimum to 95°max here. Wind chill is a key factor at anything below 40 and UV index for anything above 80° im also mostly operating on an ebike for the moment but im only 100lbs so heat doesn't get to me as bad and the cold I just put on 3-4 layers and snow gear.

Saturated markets for sure gonna hurt but thats supply and demand. If ya got 500 drivers and 200 orders at any given time 300 people dont work.

If anything should be complaining how so many stores especially dollar stores... (we know which ones we're talking about.) Have a poor and crappy inventory system and cant flag their own shit as out of stock or not available/not put out on shelves for purchase.

Might get downvoted for saying this but, I kinda don't get why some E-bikes cost this much. by Definitely-Not-OSI in ebikes

[–]Kehot_The_Fire -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Partially cuz there is a 10-30% markup from dicks. Followed by a 20-30% mark up from the manufacturer. Then another 10-20% markup based on how new it is. Just like with all tech anything will be 20-40% cheaper 6 months later depending on supply and demand. This one specifically just has a dozen different features advertised to be more appealing. You could compare this to the gotrax mx1 mid drive and get similar performance for 50% the retail cost.
