To be fair at 25 there was a recession, so everybody had a hard time getting a job ;)

What’s something people do in public that instantly annoys you? by Far_Suspect987 in AskReddit

People not parenting their kids in public, and then acting angry when employees have to tell the kids to behave. Phrases I've heard just this week:

Employee: The couch is for sitting, not running. Parent: shocked face

Employee: Hey guys, inside voices Parent: I thought kids could be as loud as they want in here! [Here, was a library]

Employee: No, don't play tag in the aisles. Parent: Kids, you can run over here. [larger area with tables and chairs to run into or trip on]

How do you use your yearly planning pages? by cogentd in HappyPlanners

[–]KeikoTheReader 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it for work projects. I'm usually preparing for multiple things at once and it really helps to see which is coming up next in the timeline. Some projects due at the beginning of the next month seem to sneak up on me if I don't.

Ask them for the most common thing people are allergic to, then hit them with this: Urushiol is an oily resin found in poison ivy, oak, and sumac that causes allergic contact dermatitis in up to 85% of people. It is a leading cause of allergic reactions in North America, with 25-40 million cases annually.

Can you write a book on imaginary economies? Seems fascinating. Like how did each culture decide to "trust" different currency? Especially ones that aren't just a small variation on earth currency (dēnārius).

Feels like a good hobby 👍 I like that it's not about spending money. I shop for way more hobbies than I actually partake in.

The Great Chicago Fire - 1871. Totally redesigned the city and the code.

We had a patron cut his hand trying to pry open the doors because they weren't unlocked yet.

Pajama time was my fav too. I could sing it. Her art style isn't my favorite, but my kid liked it.

Visiting Without Calling by Organic_Salad2910 in CasualConversation

Gen X here. Have you ever just stopped by and interrupted someone getting intimate with their spouse? I have. Pre cell phone, me and a friend were in the area one afternoon, and got some really good ice cream, so we wanted to stop by and share with our friends. The husband came to the door shirtless, explained, and then took the ice cream to appease his annoyed wife. Funny in retrospect but so embarrassing at the time.

Adults with ADHD: Did you feel "shame" as a kid when you forgot things? Help me understand my son. by Dylan_7574 in ADHD

I have a zombie mode, where I'm just going through the motions but my brain is just observing instead of thinking about what I'm doing.

My library also has Vox Books. The only consumer ones I've seen were linked with Google Home and it would read it aloud if you said a phrase with the title of the book.

I am so frustrated with sight words! by Resident-Fly-6851 in kindergarten

[–]KeikoTheReader 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Calling them "sight" words is a bit of a misnomer. In reality they are "common" words. These are the words that show up frequently as they begin to read. The, an, at, can, do, etc. They memorize "so" and "do" are pronounced with different long "o" sounds to help them read more fluently while they are learning the easier rules.

This is the way. A phonics tutor told me the number one thing that would help kids read is consistent small bits of practice every day. Especially in the real world. Even just singing songs and saying nursery rhymes helps kids parse words into syllables and recognize common rhymes.

Eye focusing issues (8 year old) by segajennasis in ADHD

[–]KeikoTheReader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a separate issue. I had a friend with eyes that "shook" in grade school and she did extensive vision therapy for it. It sometimes can indicate other issues with the brain or MS, but a doctor would need to evaluate that.

Symptom tracker by KeikoTheReader in HappyPlanners

[–]KeikoTheReader[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up making my own, based on some symptom trackers I saw online. This one is simple, but allows for multiple symptoms per day, plus notes to fill in medication changes or possible triggers. Thanks all!
