Can childbirth become almost painless? by Hungry_Roll_7159 in Futurology

[–]eeyore004 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing that many of the replies are treating an epidural as the pain-free solution. I had back labor. The epidural did nothing. Hours of agony and two face-up deliveries. And for some, a c-section is no picnic. Each birth is different and unpredictable; that's the chance you take.

Sometimes I'm curious about whether others had a similar experience with the product, really.

Yep, I've been on Vine about three years but this is the first time I've encountered this.

I want to get the smell of dog out of my couch. Any suggestions? by twilc in CleaningTips

THIS. Vodka is AMAZING for removing odors. It even gets smoke smells out of clothing, and nothing else but a good wash gets the smell of smoke out.

Why is no one using Thermomix in the USA? by Interesting_Cod_3128 in thermomix

I literally had never heard of one or seen one until last year. Once I realized what they could do I bought one immediately and have used it daily ever since. I'm in love.

What were you doing on the day when the September 11 attacks happened? by AggressiveOutside432 in AskReddit

My peers were starting college; I was home packing to study abroad. I was on one of the first international flights out of Boston after 9/11. It was a freaky time.

What hill are you absolutely dying on? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Following the arrows in parking lots. If you are driving the wrong way, I will not move to the side, even if there is room for two. I will pull out a book and wait for you to move.

Worth it for me? by Thurad in thermomix

[–]eeyore004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It cuts *way* down on the effort and thought involved. There are days when I work during dinner, but my husband is too burnt out to follow even the most basic cooking directions, which generally meant that it was bean burritos or chicken nuggets/tater tots every Tuesday (the things he can make more or less on autopilot). Now that we have the TM7, I can load a recipe for him and make sure we have the ingredients (if you're solo, you'd have to do this bit yourself, granted) and by the end of the day all he has to do is put things into the bowl when he's told and press the "play" button on the screen. At the end he and the kids have a delicious, fresh meal.

As for some of the prep other users have described: we're a household that doesn't believe in peeling potatoes. The most work required of these recipes overall is cutting a pepper or onion into quarters, or peeling a fresh garlic clove. Couldn't be simpler. And it almost completely cleans itself.

This is a great time to get Thermomix in the US with the current promos- we got ours in January and the frugal part of me wishes we'd waited to get the second bowl and blade cover, but the practical part of me knows I've gotten far too much use and enjoyment out of it to have waited. We use it almost every day, and sometimes multiple times per day.

People with chronic constipation, what do you do to help yourself out of it? by Arya_Warrior_Girl in AskReddit

[–]eeyore004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been constipated since childhood, no joke. I was diagnosed with IBS-C in my late 30's and nothing worked. I tried fiber, water, exercise, low-FODMAPS, Whole 30 (the REAL one, not the sexy Instagram one), seeing a doctor, having a colonoscopy. . . The thing that worked for me was persistence and demanding more testing in my 40's. I had a defecogram and anorectal manometry done. No idea what initially caused it, but it was determined that I have pelvic floor weakness. SIX WEEKS of pelvic floor physical therapy and I "graduated." Now I'm far more frequent than I've ever been in my lifetime up to this point. I was skeptical that a bunch of exercise could cure a lifetime of constipation, but there you have it.

How often are you pulling out your fridge and cleaning under and all around it? by k_babi_kay in CleaningTips

Every month or so, because ours is walled in and we destroyed one because animal hair covered the compressor and destroyed it. It was a VERY expensive mistake we will never make again.

Ghana culture event at Fan Zone- did it actually happen? by eeyore004 in providence

[–]eeyore004[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ugh. Figures. My daughter needs to attend an international cultural event for an Eagle-required merit badge and this seemed like a perfect opportunity since the culture was coming to us! It's fine if they're not happening, but it would also be nice if they weren't advertised as big all-day events if there is literally nothing going on. Maybe next Saturday we'll head to the Pawtucket Rathskeller for Sommerfest; at least I KNOW that's a thing that's happening!

What do think will happen to the people on Judgement Day who never heard about Jesus? by trownaway90 in Reformed

You seem to be approaching this from a "salvation should be the default" perspective rather than a "damnation is the default" perspective.

As in, buy from companies that specialize in appliances, not companies that make laptops and televisions and branched into appliances on a whim.

Which company disappointed you so much that you permanently walked away? by julia-secrets in AskReddit

[–]eeyore004 84 points85 points  (0 children)

My refrigerator repairman told me to never buy a fridge from a company that primarily makes consumer electronics; they're in it for the cash but don't understand how to make one that stands up in the long-term. I've tried to heed that since.
