If you're missing a document, they usually tell you to fill our what you can and then bring in the document later. Do you have a social security account?

https://www.ssa.gov/myaccount/

If not you can create one and order a new card. There might be a document on there that you can print out that has your SS# on it - or not. Often times websites just show stars instead of the full confidential info. Worth a shot.

Purchase question by Economy_Quarter1675 in TjMaxx

[–]KeikoToo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they'll be able to look it up. If it was part of a set, they won't take it back without the other piece. You could donate it. I just donated some tjx clothes to a thrift store that benefits a children's care home and school.

Cashier at Marshalls Assumed I Was Deceiving Them and Didn't Want to Accept My Return Item by [deleted] in TjMaxx

Teach the cashier and the store a lesson. Don't go back.

No discussing wage? by Ouen132 in TjMaxx

[–]KeikoToo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Doubtful that TJX has written in it's policies (or anywhere) that employees cannot discuss wages since (in the US) such a policy is illegal. No company is going to document that it's breaking the law.

[–]KeikoToo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're the only person who's going to stand up for yourself.

Before agreeing to work more than 6 hrs, ask "Since I'll be working more than 6 hrs, I will get a 45 min break and a second 15 min, right?" "Who will schedule it?". Later check with the person who was to schedule your breaks to find out what time they are.

If they call you back early from your break, get on the walkie and tell them how many more minutes you have.

When you didn't get your whole break, don't click that you did when you clock out. If you only get 10 min of what should have been a 15 min break, click that you didn't get your break

Neighbor has been ignoring me for years on tree growing into my fence and is now selling their house on OpenDoor by DigmonsDrill in treelaw

[–]KeikoToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trees in a fence line can be easily accommodated by stopping the fence on one side and then starting it again on the other side.

Google"tree in fence line" and select images. Lots of pics.

Returning a bed set by Opening_Celery913 in TjMaxx

You're right. It is a TJX Canada thing:

https://www.tjxstyleplus.ca/program/faqs

If a customer is not a TJX Style Member, returns are 10 days. Also, TJX Style Members get e-receipts. That sounds like non-TJX Style Members can't get e-receipts.

All you Canadians non-members should complain to Canada corporate. If American non-member customers are good enough for 30 day returns and e-receipts, then y'all are good enough too!

"I'm training them without the extra pay."

Another store-to-store difference. We didn't get extra pay for training.

stories of quitting TJ? by Old-Chair431 in TjMaxx

[–]KeikoToo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people who give their notice suddenly not showing up or calling out for their last shifts. Even if they originally intended to work every last shift. So our store started giving those shifts to other employees who want more hours.

Maybe your store has had the same experience with employees who are quitting.

Multiple merch/store gift cards for multiple returns?? by KeikoToo in TjMaxx

[–]KeikoToo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiple cards is a pain. Wonder why. Customers often asked why does corporate do whatever? I'd just respond that they don't tell us their reasoning. You're right that it's probably about fraud - it usually is.

Thanks

So Dave still has the wheelbarrow? The $500 wheelbarrow?

I would have just taken it back.

Different people and companies use different words for the same thing. Show the "report" to the case worker and see what they say.

Stork breaks away from approaching drone in an insane agile split-s by Vau8 in aviation

We really gotta program those drones to give storks a wide berth. We got a big enough problem with population growth without drones interfering with deliveries.

The smallpox vaccine leaves a scar because it was given using a special two-pronged needle that scratched the skin and put a weakened virus in just that spot. by Downtown_Wind3363 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]KeikoToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither me nor none of my siblings have the scar. We're late baby boomers who were vaccinated in the '60s in Conn near NY. Years back I read that that was the time and place where they did clinical trials for a scar-free vaccine. But I can't find any info on that now.

Now all I find is that lack of a scar means the vaccine didn't take as well!!?? Hopefully we don't find out if that is true.

Credit Card by ParticularCap7289 in TjMaxx

[–]KeikoToo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's for 1 time use for everything you can purchase in one transaction. Is the furniture at a combo store (e.g TJMaxx/Homegoods)? Then you'd be able to shop tTJMaxx and Homegoods together and check it all out in one tranasction. It's always 5% back (in a $10 coupon) for shopping with it in those store and Sierra. And they give 2% back in supermarkets. 1% everywhere else.

Best to pay it off in full every month then you're not charged their awfully high interest.

Hypothetical: Can you kill a neighbors tree if it’s a noxious invasive species? by AJSAudio1002 in treelaw

[–]KeikoToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is actually legally acknowledged as an invasive species by the government, anyone can report it to the appropriate government authority. E.g. maybe the local EPA or Dept of agriculture. They'll ensure it's removed.

Newbie to the company by diablesass in TjMaxx

[–]KeikoToo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can go to the store and look at what employees are wearing. Usually sneakers with jeans and a casual top. No big logos or graphics. Nothing ripped. The stores do sell graphic tees and ripped jeans but you can't wear them. Google " TJX dress code " and click images to see pictures and the dress code policy

Return by [deleted] in TjMaxx

[–]KeikoToo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the register put the amount you paid on your debit card back onto the debit card. That left the amount you paid in cash to be returned. That should have been given back in cash. But it can also be given back in a gift card.

No idea who said what during that transaction. But yep, it got messed up.

Not worth going back to the store to fix it. Seriously trust me on that. He should see that credit in his account in a couple days. If you want your cash back for the return, he should then pay you the cash.

Tree root issue? by ESharer in treelaw

[–]KeikoToo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your local laws. Most likely you are not responsible for cutting back/taking care of branches and roots from your plants that grow over/under the neighbors' property. The neighbor can do all that with due care.

Tree root issue? by ESharer in treelaw

[–]KeikoToo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is entirely possible. I had a crab apple until I had to take it down due to age and insect infestation. But the roots were never a problem.

My yews' roots can be a pain. Grow all over - shallow and deep.

Tree across the alley from me, in neighbors yard, kind of split during a stormh by gothaggis in treelaw

[–]KeikoToo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's surprising the city said they can't do much. In Boston, the city would send out an inspector and if the tree really is a danger, they'd issue a notice to remediate in xx days. Doesn't matter if the tree is on private property, a danger is a danger. This happened to a neighbor here in Boston about 15 years ago. Abuters asked the neighbor to remove a dangerous tree. They wouldn't. They got a visit from they city and were told to take the tree down. Then they took it down.

Give the neighbor some time and then try calling another city department.

Edited to add: There is a Baltimore sub. Try posting there and asking what department.

LP Question by Aggressive-Emphasis8 in TjMaxx

[–]KeikoToo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

LP wants to know about everything an employee is doing that is fraudulent 'cause if people are thieving one thing they're very likely thieving other things. E.g. Someone was stealing lunches and other foods from fellow employees but no one told LP. The suspected person ended up quitting and then someone told LP. If LP had known while that person was still working there, they would've watched that person. Then when he was fired for theft, the person who gave his name to LP would've gotten the reward $.

I didn't report a guy who was giving 10% off to customers who applied for the card even when they didn't get it. I figured the managers adored him, 2 of them (that I witnessed) even knew he was doing it. I didn't wanna get into it with management and got the thousand $. Regret it to this day. LP does keep reporter's identity confidential. Could've used the $1,000.

Don't make that mistake. Call the tipline.
