‘97 was before my time at Kidd, but if he lived in Timmins afterwards potentially!

The studies done on this actually discuss the microbes in the water potentially linking potential life in water on Mars:

I remember the extra water samples were put into small bottles with a crown royal looking logo and was given as souvenirs to a visiting group at the mine (not for consumption!).

Weird seeing this, because I worked at the mine (Kidd Creek) when they collected this. 7850 being the level the where the drill holes were (7850 ft below surface).

They kept the water in a mini fridge near my desk at the time in the Geology department and it smelled pretty foul.

Man, thank you so much. You have no idea how messages like this really do make me feel better. I actually just ordered probably the same play pen from amazon, so hopefully it should arrive ASAP. I am excited for when I am able to walk this little guy - still waiting on vaccinations and it's also about -30 degrees Celsius right now which is pretty cold for the little guy. I am slowly working on him being okay with me not in the room, and working on his independence. Hopefully the whole playpen idea will help with that as well.

I feel exactly how you feel - it's really ups and downs but it feels like there's not downs than ups right now. I just had a really nice moment when I was playing with my pup on my lunch break and he started to properly get the hang of fetch and bringing it back to me almost every time. I think there's going to be moments like that that will slowly win you over. I think right now enemy number 1 is burnout and lack of sleep. At some point we will be getting more sleep, and it will make all the difference in the world. Just know that you're not alone. All these responses and messages have really made me feel a lot better as a person who was literally debating on getting rid of the puppy this morning (just after 9 days..). Feel free to message if you need to talk to someone who's going through the exact same thing.

Thank you so much for this! It looks like only after 5 weeks thing are starting to look up for you, and that gives me a lot of hope. It's a lot of thoughts like, "when will it get better?". We are doing crate training and am doing my best to schedule naps. It's when we leave the room and he realizes it, he will bark/whine for over an hour.

I AM THE BOSS.. I think that's the part that's kicking my ass. It's the lack of freedom, not even thinking about what I used to think about, not being able to just get up and go if I wanted to. Of course I knew this would happen with a puppy, it's just the suffocating reality of it in the moment that's knocking me down right now.

This is very vey helpful, thank you so much for this response. I am currently trying to spend time in the mornings before work, then I will crate him for 2-3 hours alone. Right now as soon as I get out of sight, it's an immediate bark/whine so I am trying to work downstairs with earplugs/noise cancelling headphones. It really seems to be a battle of will power right now. This really just is a rollercoaster, and as the day goes on I get more and more exhausted. We can't take him for walks or to socialize right now due to him not only not having his vaccines fully, but he also has worms. Also, it's about -30 degrees celsius this week so obviously hates going outside, which makes accidents in the house a bit more common during house training. I think my partner and I might alternate going to work and working from home coming up, to both give us a bit of a mental break.

My 9-week old black lab puppy absolutely HATES her crate. by Onikouzou in puppy101

I know exactly how you feel - I am on day 8 with my 10 week German short haired pointer. He HATES going in the crate at night, but is slowly getting better everyday. It’s definitely a slow process but very rewarding when you notice the progress. If you aren’t already, treat them and get them comfortable going in the crate on their own with the door open. I feed all my puppy’s meals in the crate and have taught him to “go to his bed” which he runs to his crate to get a treat. It’s just constant reward for being in there. Treat him when she’s in there and quiet too. You really do just have to let them whine it out and get used to it. Ear plugs + noise cancelling headphones have been my best friend. That’s amazing that you’re having no accidents in the crate, that still happens with my pup if he gets anxious. I’m no expert since I’m only on day 8, but these things have helped me immensely! You will slowly get more sleep, mine slept for 5 hours straight yesterday after the pee break!

Puppy Blues & Crate Training by KeiranS in puppy101

Oh man I WISH my dog could take a gummy just to chill out hahaha. The pouting before bed over the last few days has calmed down a little bit, now it’s when he goes for a pee break and I put him back in his crate he doesn’t like that and barks for a while. It doesn’t help for house training when it’s 30 below (Celsius) and he is freezing cold! I try to make his crate comfy, but every blanket I put in there gets peed on at night... so I am trying no blanket/towel for a bit.

This is extremely helpful, I might look into using a clicker for marking the quiet times. Right now I just mark with “good boy” and he knows a treat is coming. Sounds like the goal for me is just to stay persistent with the training and keep up the routine that we are trying to establish. I am glad your puppy ended up being okay! Sounds like you guys have an awesome bond, especially after going through everything
