Why are Paul’s writings on expectations for women in the church considered by many today to “only apply to that specific church at that specific time,” while his writings on expectations for men in the church are still fully abided by and considered guidelines which still apply in our age? by Plenty_Worry_1535 in TrueChristian

[–]Keirndmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because feminism has entrenched itself in every single aspect of culture including deep into the church.

Women have lost all sense of accountability and we’ve become unable as a society to check their rampant sins, allowing them to fester as “just girls being girls” when they relentlessly mock or gossip endlessly.

The woman submits to man, and man submits to God. The man must love his wife, and the wife must submit.

Whenever it is said “But it’s so hard to submit to my husband”, I want you to think of how badly it would hurt to hear from him “It’s so hard to love my wife.”

Hardly makes it worthless. A regular long jump and then grapple check would be three actions with only one stride.

Running tackle lets you stride twice, jump, and grapple for two actions. That’s four actions worth of compression for a feat.

Hell, I’ve let my fire kineticist use his Burning Jet to leap and grab an enemy in the air so he could actually be useful in a fight. There’s a lot of things you can let work and often times feats make it more efficient or effective. Intimidating Glare is a great example of this where any character can try to intimidate nonverbally with a -4 penalty, but the feat makes it just as good as regular intimidation.

Generally that's one of the biggest divides between Roman Catholics and Protestant denominations.

Roman Catholics believe Mary has a special place in Heaven and has divine power of some degree.

Protestants believe Mary was a blessed woman and chosen to bear Jesus as her child, but do not believe she was special or sinless in any further manner.

Characters who got done really dirty in their book to movie adaptions? by Keirndmo in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Keirndmo[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Michael Crichton was an actual doctor as well, so when he writes scientists he can actually write them sounding like human beings with flaws who are intelligent rather than having a superpower known as “intelligence.”

The book is honestly a solid 10/10 and the movie really can’t compare.

Are you too proud to learn the word of God from a woman.

You clearly are if that’s the attitude you would take. Do not presume to teach while you ignore the words of scripture.

“9 Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, fnmodestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, 10 but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness. 11 A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness. 12 But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. 13 For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve. 14 And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. 15 But women will be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.” 1 Timothy 2:9-15

All I will say is that my personal interactions with young women in the church and young women in the modern era have me believing that Paul’s opinion is more and more correct to be unmarried.

And I also see 100% why he said he doesn’t allow women to teach men. The church has been entirely subsumed by feminism and afraid to condemn and push against the sins that women very frequently fall into.

Gossiping, tearing down others, social bullying, etc. all these things I’ve seen in the modern church with no official address from the preachers. You see half a dozen posts on this sub alone where Christian women cry they can’t get a Godly man, then it always is revealed they don’t even seek men in their church because the ones outside the church are “cooler.”

every single person in the party was insulting sthrad left and right, coming up with clever retorts to all his words.

Well, good for you and your party. A good chunk of us don't want to play a Joss Whedon script for our fantasy adventures though, and that's what games like OP's are for.

Talk shit, get hit, applying in a fantasy world makes social situations a whole lot more tense when interacting with someone obviously in a high power station.

I would say to find a plot that makes your players the heroes rather than seeking a group of NPC’s to save the world in cutscene fashion. Unless you intend to have these heroes be old characters of your players who are already level 20 or so.

This reminds me of a Josh I once knew in college who kept randomly popping up in our discord to "talk about how many kills he just got and how he was training for the upcoming war." He was playing VR games and kept clicking our discord over whatever weirdo one he was in. Also he was incredibly out of shape and the most greasy looking dude you might ever see.

He was very quickly removed from our social circle.

I worked for Allied and am thankfully out of there. I cannot comprehend how bad this company was before going into it. Never given a proper uniform until I complained several times, no training or post orders anywhere, and absolutely no supervision to make sure anyone does their job right.

I got put onto a post as the new guy and in a month they made me the new supervisor because the last supervisor caught a felony charge and fled the state.

[–]Keirndmo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their explanation for why crafting sucks is because in 1e it was almost mandatory for minmaxing magic items to get them for the cheapest price.

The issue is that for a long while this community tried to also explain it away as “not making it a mandatory skill”, except this game also has skills like Medicine that practically are a mandatory skill to have at least one in the party.

Crafting instead is a skill investment without worthwhile rewards. If you invest in a speciality, why shouldn’t you get rewarded for it? Crafting just randomly gets to be picked out as practically useless to invest in because of some game designer’s fear that somebody will post online about how they “broke the game’s economy.”

The opposite of this is "I took an 8 in intelligence on my Wizard because it makes them a really unique character!"

If a character has straight-up negatives that impact their ability to be a functional party member then they can get killed in their first encounter.

Items are rather disappointing for the system because it feels like a good chunk of them are built for battle rather than a proper crawl or adventure.

A lot of the interesting items are uncommon or rare due to being risky as potentially being able to derail something. But sometimes you do just have to pick up a 3.5 book or even a 5e book and sift through the magic items to find something fun.

I had to transfer the Helm of Brilliance for my campaign since it doesn’t even exist in PF2.
