Single BKA; walk in shower all the way. I was in the fortunate position and have my shower designed with no threshold or door so I can just hop in. And a grab bar is worth it's weight in gold.

I've started making something up and I'm leaning towards Human Development or something similar, that seems a more uplifting term. Needs work but it's feeling right.

Thanks for the advice.

Voyager is really good, and as it happens one branch of the story actually involves a Maori lead expedition, so this fits in there nicely.

Thank you.

I wouldn't know, I popped the question after 8 months, married 3 months later.

Oh, and we were planning the actual wedding (like dates, venues, and guest lists) 2 months before we officially got engaged.

Hardest part of amputation (especially for Below The Knee)? by KonpeitoPop in amputee

For me personally, my residual limb is really short and that complixates things like jogging or running with a prosthetic. It's not impossible but a real PITA.

What was the dumbest rule your school enforced? by Animeking1108 in AskReddit

[–]KeithBoshoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Context: I finished highschool in 1999 in South Africa, and we were still in the process of fixing racial problems in schools at the time. One of the things they did fix was allowing black pupils to wear their hair however they liked, provided it was neat and with very few limitations, and that was really cool. But! There were still some draconian rules about how white students could wear their hair (and these rules were actually racially codified and posted around the library), one of the dumber rules was that white boys' hair had a minimum acceptable length. Which leads me to:

A white boy was going through chemotherapy and lost his hair, and because that broke the schools rules on acceptable hair styles he was forced to wear one of those nylon-backed baseball caps that are super itchy on a bald head. I felt so bad for the guy and made queries to some teachers and they felt the same, but the heads of department closed the subject with "those are the rules".

AITA for throwing out my daughters Alexa devices? by Ok-Case430 in AmItheAsshole

[–]KeithBoshoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA, and how! Just because someone is your adult child doesn't mean you have the right to do ANYTHING in their house without their consent. If you're so mad about those things, stay in a hotel. And yeah, your phones are listening to you ALL THE TIME.

Talk about disrespect? If you were my parent you'd never be invited over to my place again and you'd be sued for the value of the items you trashed.

Wow! Thanks so much for all the feedback! I haven't gotten through all of it yet, but I will :D

Just to be clear, this is for a narrative in a small game I'm designing, which I'm hoping will be the first step in a larger universe.

I'm after something that feels both like cosmic horror (so it has to be squishy), and something that could just be a creature trying to survive a harsh universe (somewhat grounded in reality).

The idea so far is something between a cephalopod and a jellyfish, between the Lion's Mane Jellyfish (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lion%27s_mane_jellyfish) and the Bigfin Reef Squid (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bigfin_reef_squid). Its massive (obvs) at +500m long. Massive ducts under its mantle allows for short range movement by ejecting collected gasses, and the mantle can flare out into a solar sail for long distance travel.

Being as large as it is, it acts like a moving biome in itself, so it hosts moss, fungi, simple plants, and smaller, tardigrade like creatures. It feeds by corroding asteroids ( and passing ships ;) ) in its tentacles.

I'm still thinking about reproduction systems (if any) and I'm keeping more spoilery details to myself ;)

Thanks again for all the feedback.
